My review of the new Michelin Super Sports

OK so I opted for the more expensive michelins at £1030 fitted over the Vreds which I found for £750

In short, I couldnt be more impressed with the tyres.

Ive done nearly 200 miles on them since last week and at least 50 has been hard driving

Car feels far more stable and there has been absolutely no loss of traction at all, on any corner at any speed and even from a "racing start"

Dare I say it, the boy racer in me came out and I tried to light up the tyres on numerous occasions but the grip is so immense I could not do so

Cant comment on what they are like in the wet or what the wear is like for the time being

Well worth the extra money!

As discussed Sunday night, these tyres are getting excellent reviews, and its great to read feedback from the few people who are lucky enough to have these new tyres fitted. Keep us posted on how they handle the wet. Will be interesting whether they are too compromised to handle ice and snow compared with more 'stardard' tyres like the Vreds, PS3s, Asymmetrics etc

I also got a set of these a while ago for 980 fitted & they do seem very good. They seem a lot better than the Contis that were on the car - I can't do a direct comparison as ran winters inbetween but so far cornering & 1 agressive launch have been very good. Haven't used them in the rain thanks to the abnormal weather we have had this month + have mostly been riding the bike but they definutley get a thumbs up from me. I did consider Vreds but given I have winters decied to try the Michs.

Has anyone bought these in 275/30 r19 not sure which way to go 275 or 255. I have 275 winter tyres and like the rim protection.

You got Vreds as your winters just out of interest, or the Pirellis? As I was saying to DrBru, I'm keeping an eye out for a second hand set of alloys to wrap in winter rubber, so it won't matter if these Michelins are more compromised in cold conditions compared with others.

I had Dunlop Winter Sports M3 came on a 2nd hand set of original RS4 winter wheels (were 225/40 18s or similar) were a vast improvement over the well worn Contis in the snow (not that we had much after I fitted them of course...)

The lovely smooth five spokes that have become quite common on the A3 in 17s and new A4 in 18s? Nice looking wheel - really wanted the family Sportback on those.

Yes that looks like them - wheels went from 19x9J to 18x7.5J + tyres went down from 255 to 225 so completely different - ride was much more comfortable & parking good & easy too (especially as the came pre-kerbed...) !
