Spark plugs

Apologies if this has been covered before but couldn't find all the info. I've got a few questions regarding spark plugs that I'm keen to get views on....

1. Bought my car last year and it's currently on AVS but I'm largely doing short local trips. Thinking of moving to annual service and on getting quote was surprised spark plugs aren't changed til 60k (mine's on 48k). Would people recommend changing them early as my car is now 4 years old? Some people have spoken of improved kick at 5500rpm when done?
2. Quoted £168 for spark plugs at audi which seems a lot of money - how difficult are they to fit yourself? Seen can purchase genuine plugs for around £80 from PW Motorsport
3. Also thinking of different air filter rather than Audi OEM at service. Have seen people speak of MRC air filter. What are the benefits? Sound? Fuel economy? etc

Any thoughts or views welcome. Thanks in advance....

I intend changing my plugs every 30k. I have an MRC filter and its worth it just for the noise!! :rocker:
What's this "fuel economy" thing that you refer to? :sekret:

Fuel economy?

Is that some kind of "Green" insult? :biggrin3:

Sorry to have caused some confusion with the economy thing....just thought I read a post that said fuel economy was better after changing filter - maybe it was referrring to the change of plugs...

My car is five years old in September, its going in for a 20000 mile service next week, I have asked for the plugs to be changed as the next time is will go in it will be over five years old is this correct or should I wait until next year?

Mine is approaching 25000miles, but is 5 years old next month, I think im going to ask them to change a few things while still under motorplan... Spark plugs, Air filter, gearbox Oil, and TPMS monitor...
