mdm technik ltd
Hello,
I am new to this forum and am just after some advise.
My 2006 RS4 is giving me grief and so is Reading Audi. I have a huge steering wobble under braking and knocking from both front sides going over speed bumps. Reading Audi want the car for 3 days!
Mdm technik are a few miles away and was just wondering if anyone has any dealings with them as I can pop in and wait while they diagnose?
Thanks in advance.
Dave.

Hi,
I cant give you a reference for Mdm technic, but I think you may have 2 separate issues. Your steering wheel wobble issue under braking may be answered by the post by zedrs5 titled Disc skimming b7, your symptoms sound very similair when braking. Hope this helps in your quest for answers.

Yep you clearly have 2 well known issues with your RS4
1) your brakes are warped, but can be fixed with a skim as mentioned above
2) the famous DRC failure, which audi have promised to fix for free on cars that are less than 5 years old and 75,000 miles irrespective of warranty

I took my car down to MDM Technik while on my lunch break. They are based in Marlow (don't think they are next to amd as not in Essex). Website is www.mdmtechnik.co.uk
The wobble while braking is down to the discs, front ones are badly worn and corroded and also pads are low. But more alarmingly he found there was a lot of play on the steering. One of the mechanic and I believe the onwer called Mark (if my memory is correct) found the F**KING STEERING RACK LOOSE.
He took the bolt out from the top without the use of any tools! Put some blue locking stuff on and torqued up. We agreed for the rack to be inspected in a week to check it hasn't come loose again.
Has any one had this before?
Knocking noise is down to both front DRC shocks leaking. My car is a 2006 with 54K, would it be covered? MDM Technik said it would also require central valves aswell, is this correct as aren't they a lot of money? Camberley is close to me which is good!

Your DRC should all be covered, especially if you have FASH, but even if you don't you might have a bit more of a fight on your hands, but audi will eventually sort it out.4SRiduA wrote:Thank you all for the reply's.

Regarding the steering rack I had the same problem when I first purchased the car, symptom was a knocking noise on full lock. Steering rack has been fine since. simple fix. I seem to recall a few owners having the same problem. (think 06 cars too).
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
