Just out of interest was wondering how many other members do not have built in nav? I am one of them. Doesn't bother me as my car was just so nice that I couldn't turn it down!

Like you, my car was MINT and had 1 doctor owner from new so it wasn't an issue to me.
However, as you do, to keep an interest in the car I hatched a plan to go from Concert single DIN to double DIN RNS-E and it worked out well.
Apart from nav, TMC function for traffic jams is great and the control of the CD changer and radio through the RNS-E is much nicer too and it makes the dash look a lot nicer.
But if I had to choose between an average car with Nav or a minter without ,it would be a no brainer..

Is it tricky to swap over?

Have you got a symphony double size stereo or a single CD concert?
I had Concert which made it much harder but I like a challenge, Symphony would have been too easy

I've got no Nav.
Had it in the A4 & really wanted it when I was looking for an RS, but my car had all the other spec I wanted, and I knew it wasn't impossible or expensive to retrofit so I went for it.
I use Co-Pilot on the iPhone which is a great wee Nav system, and cheap if you already have tha phone.

I didn't either then fitted the pioneer unit I posted pics off up on here it's been a great upgrade more for the iPod/iPhone use and the Bluetooth is superb on it

I deliberately bought mine without sat nav and spec'd the Symphony II - as I had an RNS-E already and knew from retrofitting one before that it's only about 30 minutes job.

Did the retrofit the day after I got the car.

I have Co Pilot 8 on my phone, which I use in my other car - but the RNS-E is a much better display and you can scroll out the map further which is great when you're looking for alternative routes.

Anyone know the difference in price selling on a car with Nav as against one without Satnav? I guess it wont be too much if anything...

It doesn't affect the price , but a car without sat nav is harder to sell as most buyers expect a car like the RS4 to have sat nav.

So you don't get more money, but you get less hassle.

i would argue it does affect the price ... someone is always gonna barter you down on your non nav car for a couple of hundred quid, because it hasnt got the nav !

I got mine cheap because of no nav, or at least I think so, the red leather somewhat made it unclear as to what was affecting value. Def not condition

anything where it shirks the market will affect price ... colour of car, colour of leather, no nav, no buckets, no fbsw etc etc
