Check them over and particularly the connecting bolts to the drop links if you have been driving around in the winter weather. I started to have a weird knocking noise a couple of weeks ago, only ever occasional and when the car was cold and thought it was one of the front tyres popping on the rim because of the cold weather when turning to full lock. But then on Monday going round a long left hander the nearside rear was rubbing in the wheel arch!

Instant though 'there goes the rear DRC' as it hasn't been replaced with modified struts but a quick trip to Revolution and up on their ramps found the M8 bolt connecting the ARB to the drop link had sheared. So two replacement drop links, to M8 bolts, 30 minutes labour time and £80 later the car is completely transformed. Boosted by a laser allignment which showed that the monkeys at North East tyres hadn't bothered their arses to do the allignment I had 3 weeks ago properly because it was all over the shop front and rear.

In honesty part if it is that the Hotchkis bar on the rear is on aggressive setting and probably puts more stress through the bolt than it is used to.

Glad you're sorted. I'll make a note as I was thinking about uprating my ARB's to Hotchkis.

Hmmm - been there, done that! Fortunate you're mainly dual carriageway miles as opposed to twisties.



Graeme, you should have waited a couple of days coz my uprated Stern drop links are in the air from the USA as I write.

It was horrendous on the motorways too! If you sent over an undualtion or surface change the back end was bobbing more vigourously than Monica Lewinsky!

Been there done that too lol. Mine snapped on the Nurburging, same Bolt had come loose. These need to have the blue loctite used on the bolts. Every track day I always check the bolts. To be fair they have been OK in over a year.

Mine was the rear right. There are uprated drop links you can buy for the RS4. Will have to dig out the link.

glen i was wanting a four wheel alignment done on my car,sounds like your the man to come and see.
are you saying your set up with 4 cameras is better than the set up with 2 lasers?

Im thinking of getting driving gloves so i don't ruin my alcantara wheel, do you think that's wrong? i haven't had the balls to get any yet, anyone else wear gloves, i think i will look a <beep> with shades, t shirt and gloves

And there is me thinking they was a pair of brown leather driving gloves hehe was expecting to see a matching Cravat too

How does that help with your driving?
