Is it worth getting the car detailed now or wait?
Is it worth getting the car detailed now or wait?
Any advice would be most welcome.
RE: Is it worth getting the car detailed now or wait?
Personally I would get a good sealant or wax on the paintwork and wheels just to see it through the winter rather than a full-blown detailing.

Was thinking of getting this done myself too to assist through the winter.PaulRS4 wrote:Any advice would be most welcome.

What price have you been quoted to get yours done? Obviously we are in completely different locations, but just as a guide!scottie1979 wrote:Im in the same situation. Cancelled a few weeks ago due to the snow. now arranged for this sunday, but listening to the weather it doesn't look good again.
If weather allows im just going to go ahead as it will be good protection and make it easier for me to wash after.
if you are thinking of getting a full correction the only question i would ask is whether your wash routine is up to scratch!
having a full correction done would rid 99% of swirls on a car (hopefully) however, if you are still getting to grips with the 2 bucket method and still perfecting your wash routine then i would say hang on. nothing worse than getting a full correction done and then inflicting all those swirls on the first wash.
swirls are inevitable however, with a good wash technique/routine you can greatly reduce them.
a better bet is a protection detail this will provide protection for the vehicle whilst you get to grips with your wash routine. but you will need to supplement the sealant/wax every fortnight.
hope this helps.

Most detailing nuts avoid cleaning ( full detail) their cars in harsh winter conditions as body work is more prone to being scratched due to extra salt and grime on the roads. A quick blast of the snow foam and rinse will be fine. Unfortunately it should be one of those things that get done prior to winter.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
As someone who pretty anal about my cars but has never got into the whole detailing thing (would rather pay someone to do it if I'm totally honest...
), how much would you expect to pay for a full detailing of an avant? It's something I'll look at in the spring...

08 Daytona Avant, SS+, Optics, Titan Alloys, Privacy glass etc...

The light isn't very good at this time of year so unless it's done indoors I can't see how anyone can do brilliant job.

That's cheap! Is that the lot in Pelton (N.E.D.) who are doing that for you?Revolution wrote:Not expecting much change from £250wrekka wrote: What price have you been quoted to get yours done? Obviously we are in completely different locations, but just as a guide!
Last time I had mine professionally detailed it was by Cambridge Autogleam with a thoroughly professional 2 day job and that was £400+ IIRC
