recommend an iPhone car charger

I have had a nightmare today as the charger I bought to charge my iPhone in the car didn't work. It just keeps charging on and off and is not consistent enough to bring the phone back to life after a complete battery loss.
It was a cheap one off eBay, so lesson learnt there. I need one that will work, so if anyone has purchased one and it is ok, please point me in the direction.

Same as any other PDA phone, the iphone is a high current charging device you need to purchase a charger that explicitly states it is 1A (amp) or above.
Computer USB is only half that 500 mA (milliAmp) which is why your iphone takes forever to charge from a computer, most cheap lighter to USB chargers only supply computer current 500 mA

I found this or you, it is actually 2.1A (2100 mA) which means your ipod will charge as quick as it will safely allow itself to do

Thanks mate, my current one does use a USB to connect the phone to the charger, so you are right on the money.

I have a couple of these Griffin Powerjolts - will charge up an iPhone even when running a GPS app like TomTom.
