Camberley Audi experience

Just had to share a really good dealer experience.
After searching on this site for recommendations, it was clear they had a good reputation but they were far better than I expected.
Rob initially booked me in via email - prompt, efficient and friendly.
When the day arrived, unfortunately I couldn't drive the 300 mile round trip due to a back problem (I couldn't get up & down the stairs, let alone sit in a car for 6 hours or so). So, my wife took it there for me.
Martin was the point of contact (as Rob was on holiday) and he made what could have been a stressful visit for her a pleasant one (she even got a lift to the local shops and then back again when she'd finished, while my car was being looked at).
Stuart kept me up to date by phone with what was going on technically, as I had sent down a list of questions and concerns because of me not being there and my warranty was expiring shortly.
So what did they do:
Oil inspection service / end of extended warranty health check / DRC check / Oil cooler pipe check for corrosion / update to sw0090 / fix squeaking exhaust flaps / change to fixed service from AVS / free MOT.
All in all a fantastic dealership and even my wife said it was well worth the long journey. Everyone she met was pleasant and genuinely interested in the customers they were dealing with.

if anyone from sheffield Audi is reading this then please take note as your customer service is pathetic. It's no joke that my previous experiences in kwikfit have been better!!

Very good to hear and refreshing; especially after my recent tarnished experiences of several different sites.
As I have the 2 years free servicing offer on the RS, looks like I have just found where it will be being looked after then

Thank god there's once Audi Centre that's any good, it's beyond a joke so many are so bad, I think the Germans need to kick some butt.

I had a great recent experience at Camberley too. Checked out the DRC which was fine, got some other bits replaced, and a lift to the station since I ended up leaving the car over.

Well mine goes there very soon for a service. It seems to have lost customer service since joining VW at the large site. Recent example:
My car was last serviced at 40,200 and has now done 49,200.(ive changed oil inbetween).
I want the car servicing with one of my 2 yrs free services and moving to fixed servicing.
Computer says no....
I have challenged this and common sense seems to be prevailing.

Looking to switch mine to the fixed from the AVS, so may call Camberley for some advice as have the 2 years offer.

I asked Rob about switching to fixed - he told me not to bother - just putting that out there as you will get different opinions obviously on that.
I though camberley Audi had split from VW for the service centers?

Maybe for some low mileage owners its OK, I am sure longlife oil is good for 10k miles whether that's covered in 1 year or 2.
However I'd like to know if he thinks whether more engine wear will occur if for example you did a track day with longlife oil in your sump that had covered 15000-20000 miles rather than 5000-10000, I don't know but I sure wouldn't want to gamble!

I spoke to Rob yesterday and was very impressed with his knowledge of the RS4. I've booked my car in to get an alignmnent done and SW0090 put on. I'll be using Camberley for all my servicing as it's fairly local to me.
In fact I was actually going to buy an RS4 from Camberley (was talking to Mohammed in sales - really helpful sales guy) but someone beat me to it. I then had to endure the sales process of Slough Audi to get an RS4 but the car itself is great but I won't be going to Slough Audi for any servicing or warranty repairs.

IMO doing a trackday with any oil anywhere near that age is a very bad idea. If I had to pick either before or after then I'd change the oil prior to a track day than after it. As long as the oil temps are monitored and managed (130 is a reasonable limit, 140-150 as a absolute max) with decent cool down laps then a track day shouldn't ruin fresh fully synth oil.
As for long life oil for track use in general... My gut feel is that it's a little too thin at 5w30 for prolonged high rpm. Look at similar engines say from the M3 and the oil specs are more like 10w60 with my track cars running at least 40. A decent 0w40 fully synth will be fine

Quantum Platinum is 5w/40 and meets the correct approval standards for the RS4, that's what I use.
