Taking the plunge

Hi all,
Going to see two in the next few days but really torn. A big decision for me and I want to get it right.

Against the saloon the dealer (nice guy) has offered me £10,500.00 for my '54 S4 Saloon (£750.00 below what I want for private sale).

Against the Avant the dealer (nice guy) has offered me £9,500.00 for my '54 S4 Saloon (£1750.00 below what I want for private sale).

I love both colours and think it will come down to cosmetics but should I be lloking deeper than that (like I did with the wife ;-))

Please help and if anyone knows any history on these that would be cool.

PS: Avant has just had service, new discs, pads and tyres all round

PPS: Saloon is putting on two new tyres and replacing pads at the rear.

Thanks in advance guys.

The saloon looks like its just been detailed and quite stunning, the avant mechanically sounds a better proposition but the seats look to be showing the miles so may need some spending if your as fussy as most on here, miles are high on the avant but the price is good given brakes done etc,i would say both fairly priced but only viewing will really tell there condition

The seats on the Avant look saggy as Anne Widdecombe
I have had an S3 from Merv Hannam and it was very good, they do deal in some nice top end stuff so should know a good car from a duffer.
I'm an Avant man but would rather have a proper saloon than an iffy Avant
And black is a PITA to keep looking good so saloon has that going for it too
Is there an advert for your S4 anywhere?

Having said all that, is it me or does the "facelift" saloon have the pre-facelift orange indicators in lamps? If it is an 07 surely this wrong as it came it with the 07 model year which started in mid 2006

Thanks guys,
The bloke with the saloon seems really keen to shift it and has called a few times this afternoon to see if I'd made a decision so maybe a deal to be struck there. One is in Bournemouth and the other in Salisbury so I may drive down and see them both and hopefully make the right choice.

Shagga .... GO FOR THE DAYTONA SALOON WITH OPTICS

its THE best combo BAR NONE

the guy is giving you a really good price on your S4 aswell .... £750 below your ASKING price, a private buyer wont pay your asking price ... thats the way it goes .... so bite his hand off

If the RS 4 stacks up and isnt in need of £000's of work, then DO IT

then you'll need a milltek !

I wondered about that too ! BT seems to be aftermarket so I would doubt the voice control bit, also no auto lights which may mean no rain sensor either ? Although if not the real pics hard to say anything really !

Go past Merv Hannam fairly often & always has nice cars outside so probably OK to buy from.

Stop in tomorrow and have a look ;-)

Would like the rain sensors and auto lights but I've lived without both for 10 years so not a deal breaker. Good BT would be good as I hate the echo I get from my Nokia one so I just use a headset at the mo.
