What Colour RS4 Avant should I Buy - Most desirable please

Post by steve_70 » Thu Nov 11, 2010 8:56 pm

Hi all :D

Just joined the forum yesterday and posted up a hello message in the welcome section yesterday. I apologies now if I post the same threads on similiar forums and you also frequent them

Been to look at a possible RS4 Avant today; will post that up in another thread as would like some opinions please and advice from people in the know please :thumb:

So, onto the question in hand, whatr is the most desirable colour(s) please :D

My first choice I think would be Black, but the Sprint Blue I am thinking looks equally mean with black optics pack 8)

Cheers all :thumb:

I would say the classic RS type colours, such as Misano Red and Sprint Blue & Imola Yellow. The rest is personal preference really, So Daytona Grey, Avus silver and Phantom black could be more of a middle of the road colour and will appeal to most.

Its only Imola Yellow and Silver (metallic) that are not Pearl effect, the rest are.

A understated colour is Deep Green, only ever seen 2 and both was Avants.

Bare in mind that these are standard colour. There was the Audi exclusive range and personally I liked the Orange (Solar or Papaya cant remember which).
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

My friend in the trade tells me Sprint Blue, Phantom and Daytona are the most desireable but I think Avus looks pretty good in the flesh as it is quite a dark shade of silver.

As Victor2vt says above go and see them in the flesh. It doesnt matter what anyone else thinks is the most desireable its what you like yourself. I kinda fancied the idea of a black avant until I went to see one. Totally not for me,- I thought it looked like a hearse! I would be happy with pretty much ANY of the colours except silver which just doesn't do it for me. Just go and see some and make your own mind up.

I think the desirable colours will become less/more important as prices decrease. At 55k most people wanted either wanted a discreet car so lots of Avus/Daytona/blacks sold, RS enthusiasts whent for Sprint Blue as a classic RS colour. Now prices are at 25k I think it really is whatever you want/like best the "extrovert" colours will appeal to one set of buyers the "subtle" colours to another.

Do bear in mind these cars have a lot of road presence & attitude so whilst it may seem to "blend" on the dealers forecourt amongst other performance cars it will stick out a lot more parked amongst normal cars... I really wanted Daytona as I think the arches look really good in Daytona but ended up with Avus Silver as was a really nice car & really liked the colour when I saw it.

If I had my time I would still consider Mugello Blue or special order cherry black. Rare and accentuate the RS4 curves.

I have a mugello blue avant - pretty aggressive from some angles (rear three quarter view) but not too aggressive from others (looks ordinary from the side, but that's subtlety for you).

Agree with the comment about the arches on daytona cars - this colour really accentuates the bulging bodywork.

when I bought mine color was low on the priority list
warranty left
CPO
mileage
price
color

I ended up with Imola, was not sure, but over time it has grown on me...looks like a big toy :D
I think color choice has a geographic correlation
Imola might be much more 'appropriate' in California, Florida, sunny Spain, etc.
darker colors in northern climes with much rain and snow, etc.

imo though you can't really go wrong with the sprint blue, and avus is great also
Mugello is also a very nice color

it's good to have choices

If i had my time again I would have got Daytona... but after 3 grey cars in a row, I went for black, which I still love. As far as residuals I was always told black and grey cars are the easiest to shift...

Another vote for Daytona (although, unlike klauster, I was coming off the back of 2 silver Audis so it was also a pleasant change)

As others have said it is down to personal preference

I have just got a Nogaro blue avant which must have been a special order as this colour was only available on the B5 model.

Definately not my number one choice but the condition and spec of the car swayed me over my colour preference. You might find yourself in the same postition.

Given the desirability of the car to some elements I would have preferred a more subltle colour
