See Ya.....

by bye bye
I am off to another part of the forum. After a change in job I need to be a bit more sensible as for the first time in 15 years I have to start paying for my own fuel!!!

Been getting between 9-16mpg on my journey to work and not much above 20 on long runs plus the car has been problematic...nothing out of the ordinary but DRC, brakes and other bits and bobs

Just pushed the button on a 2010 S4 Avant with 5 years warranty and 2 years servicing.

Great part of this forum...thanks for all input to my questions.....I know I've made a mistake but............"see you on the other side"

Mark

Good luck with the S4. I was going to buy a new B8 S4 Avant, but I bought an RS4 instead. The S4 is a nice car, but I always wanted a B7 RS4 since they came out.

Surely threres not a massive difference in fuel consumption? I think you might be shocked in real world driving!!

Good luck anyway.

I found the RS 4 amazing on fuel ... I've got a 50miles commute to work and although i've since sold it, on one occasion I took it to work and got 30MPG average over 50 damn miles!!!!

the B8 S4 is a great car, and similar in performance to the RS4, enjoy
is the mpg that much different?

I forget how much more your guys pay for fuel...
so I guess 15% better adds up
avg 15k miles/year at 20 mpg ~ 750 gals
US $2300
UK $6000+ ?
so 15% better mpg is $900 in savings, not insignificant.

How cheap is your fuel!! Over this side of the pond:

20 mpg over 15,000 miles with superunleaded at 1.25 pounds sterling a litre is approx £4250
23 mpg is £3700

From what I've head the B8 S4 is no more economical. One person I spoke to said it's actually worse than the B6 and B7 4.2s! Following on from what David said, you can achieve surprisingly decent economy on A roads with a 4.2 as you can use the torque and flexibility and do most of the journey in sixth.

~$3.00 / US gal ~3.8 liter for Shell 93
or 1 liter ~ £0.5

I'll be interested to hear how the find the new car, hody. I'm thinking of going B8 S4 or S5 sportback to get a newer car. It'd be interesting to hear how the two compare.

$900, I'd spend more than that on CD's / MP3's to listen to in the car because of a lack of V8 soundtrack! My music collection has not grown more than 5 albums a year since I had a V8 engined Audi!
