help - whick Milltek?
Posted: Sun Oct 03, 2010 7:13 pm
by bye bye
Recent posts have me interested in getting a Milltek.
However, which one do I go for?
I want more noise when driving quick but not at the cost of "boom" when driving normally/in traffic. I want people to hear me coming (!) but not like a Corsa with a "straight thru".
Hard to explain but I suppose I'd like a second "S" button just to take the volume up a few of notches from the usual "S" button.
Help me as I have notionally spent the money in my head and will need to do it soon!
Mark

How about res milltek? will it be louder than the stock with the 'S' button pressed?

not much point imo ... if you get a milltek, its got to be a non res, otherwise keep your money if your wallet

Is it your daily driver/long commute ? You'll find a performance filter and a re-map improves the noise nicely from the standard system.
I'd get a ride in a Milltek'd car first to see what you think - try before you buy?

I'm delighted with my non-res, non-valved, but I don't do much around town. The moderate boom is right at the bottom of the rev range (which is why it sounds noisy at startup with software 00090) but all but gone once on the move. Lots of stop / start and you'd definitely prefer the valved, but it's the best part of an extra grand. If you're flush then it's the best choice, but if not then keep an eye on the classifieds - you should be able to pick a non-valved up for £500, and a valved with cats was listed recently for about £1k

Mark. Just checked and it was £1480 + £50 fitting. Worth every penny though. If you get a non res system and it's too loud I've got a set of res pipes you can collect for free.Did you get your tints done? Cheers

Hi,
Didn't get round to the tints...still on the list though.
I may well take you up on the res pipes.......just need to find that 2nd hand Milltek before I splash £1000 for a new one.
Had a new remap yesterday at Paramount in Slough. I had one done last year at an RR day but it got flashed by Audi dealer. Went back yesterday and the re-mapped it for FREE and it's awesome. Now for the 'zorst.
