Car Gone

Post by ^Qwerty^ » Sun Sep 26, 2010 6:41 pm

It is with some regret that I sold the RS4 on Friday. I'd kind of come to the decision to keep it and start spending a bit of money on it, however things can happen to change your mind.

Without going in to too much detail, we had visitors last week in the middle of the night who wanted the keys. They didn't get them, but I'm not willing to put my wife and to a lesser degree the kids through it all again just for the sake of a car, so I made an easy decision to get shut of it. I actually got more than I wanted for it, but to be honest, that didn't really matter, I just wanted it gone.

I'll not say anything else on the matter as it's now part of an ongoing investigation.

On a slightly more positive note, I've got a set of part worn front discs that I bought off P G. Skimmed and ready for use - 33.5mm. PM if interested, or I'll stick them on ebay.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that, i hope all turns out OK.

As an aside, i had the same thing happen about 8yrs ago when i was burgled while asleep for the keys to my TT (was living in a nice area as well). Only ever happened the once (thank god) & TBH was the lesser of all the cars i've owned over the last 10ish yrs, so i diubt it's really specific to any particular brand/car.

Accepted & i knew that when i owned one, was only making the point that for me the only time this happened was with a TT & since then (with much nicer cars including the RS4) "touch wood" it's only ever happened the once.

Gutted for you :(

When I lived in Windsor town centre I was burgled twice in the 7 years I lived there. I had a 911 Turbo and Mini Cooper S taken first time and a BMW X3 taken the second time (although they were probably after my M3 CSL but didn't find the keys). I was on a main road with cars in the driveway so were visible. I also worked in Slough (home of many undesirables) so may have been followed home although they must have had a fast car to keep up ;)
I moved eventually although this wasn't the main reason but added to the idea. Now my RS4 sits in my driveway but I'm at the end of a cul-de-sac in a modern housing development and semi tucked away. Safer but still no garage.

I was chatting recently to a local chap with a new Nissan GTR. When I asked him what car he had before he said RS4. Like mine I replied. Yes but avant, but it was stolen via burglary. He lives very nearby so I wasn't pleased to hear that.

I know what it's like to have f*ckers come into your house and rob you but my passion for "cars that drive a certain way" is still strong. I don't want to give in to a minority who choose not to make an honest living. I've worked too hard for what I have and don't want to give it up.

On the driveway. Insurance wise, I live in a low risk area, as it would have cost me £3 more to put it in the garage.

As per a lot of people, the garage is full of other less valuable stuff - mad isn't it? I was only talking to the Mrs recently about getting a shed to put the kids toys in etc. so I could put the car in the garage. Too late now.

Anyway, what's done is done. We are thinking of moving, so if/when I get my double garage I'll be back in the market for something nice.

Another expensive Audi got stolen on the same night down the road from me. I'm not sure where things are with that, but they suspected it was the same people when they spoke to me a couple of days ago. I do think it's only a matter of time before some of these scroats break in to a house, wake somebody up and end up full of lead shot. That would be tragic for the home owner, as they'll end up in court.
