Dension Gateway 100 in RS4

Anyone have a Dension 100 Gateway in their RS4. I picked up the ausi today and to my delight there was one fitted.... however it only seems to display every song as "track xx" from numbers 01 to 99, no other info at all????
Is this normal? If so it's worse than bloody useless!
Anyone know?

Yep, unfortunately that's normal.
The only way to get track info on the RNS-E screen is to connect the iPod to an Alpine KCE-425i (IIRC), and connect the video output from that to a multimedia interface (like a Kufatec IMA Plus) to the RNS-E.
If you get the IMA Plus you can control the iPod from the RNS-E controls.
You do need to have the VIM (video in motion) SW mode done, otherwise the screen will blank when you go faster than 5mph.

Think I'll hook the cd changer back up instead.
How do those sd card slot things work? Can I download direct from itunes to an SD card????

You can only play MP3 files from an SD card, so you need to setup iTunes to convert to MP3.
You're also restricted to a total of 512 objects (files plus folders) on an MP3 card, and they must be SD not SDHC or SDXC cards.
"SD" cards up to 2GB are SD, 4GB can be SD or SDHC, 8GB and above are SDHC or even SDXC.

If you change the gateway 100 to a gateway 100 CAN version, then you will get tracks names in the DIS and full Ipod browsing.

Good point - but the RNS-E screen still won't show track names, just the DIS.

TBH even when using the Sat Nav I find myself ignoring the nice big colour screen and using the DIS summary Nav info

So I thought it worth clarifying that the Gateway 100 CAN provides a solution for the DIS, but not for the RNS-E.

Thanks Guys, a solution for the DIS would be a good start and a big improvement on what I currently have, which is no info on the DIS or RNS, even the ipod is disabled......
tbh it seems like an absolute POS....
Where can I get info on the Dension 100 Gateway CAN version? how much is it?
Also i think I am going to try the SD card option, do you get the track details up on screen throutgh that?? If so is there a way that you can convert itunes files directly to mp3, without having to reload the cd's and re-rip them?

Yes on both the RNS-E screen and the DIS.
Can't answer how to "drive" iTunes as I don't use it!

Was in a friends new S3 at the weekend and their RNS module looks different to mine. Main difference is that iphone links seemlessly, with all folders/playlists searchable and all text is displayed on both the RNS screen and DIS.
Anyone know where I can get one of these systems, what is it called and will it fit in my B7?

That will probably be the 2010 RNS-E it is retrofittable to the A4 but not sure what is involved - I think originally they were swapping the face plate of the old RNS-E onto the new one but the Seat Exeo nav is also a problem - I have my eye out on eBay but haven't seen any come up yet.
