MPG

Post by Revolution » Wed Aug 18, 2010 9:02 am

Just to answer a question that the wife has been asking me about lately as I noticed someone selling his cabby due to MPG costs and reminded me to raise the question.

What is your MPG on these weapons.

Around Town...................16?
Motorway 85mph.............25?
Nailing it & track days...... 10?
Average..........................23?

My past Impreza 2008 model managed 6mpg on track and up to 33mpg on motorways if I kept it at 85 on c/control and it averaged around 23-25 mpg.

Am I in for a fright?

My average in 3.5 years is about 20.7...

10 on the track!? That's good...I'd call that spirited driving - you can get less than that

On the European roads recently, I acheived 25.8 @ a steady 85 carrying some weight - PAD125 did over 28.

Selling his RS4 cab due to high fuel costs and opting for a 911 turbo which of course is far more fuel efficient.....

for my trip to Europe I averaged 22.7mpg on DIS2, so that was motorway driving, 4 laps round the Ring, maxxing out on the Autobahn and more alpine pass driving / stop start than anything else.

Since I have been back I reset DIS2 and my average drive is returning 22.3 mpg.

Equivalent to 300 miles per tank on average and £75 per fill.

cruise control kills fuel economy - can get far better without it if you put your mind to it.
Around town is hard to say - at 30 it's not bad at 20 something but stop start traffic kills it to sub 10.
70 is about 30
Average I'm getting is 24 but thats alot of 50mph roads.

Sounds like its going to be more fun and better mpg than living with a subaru - could be motoring nirvana.

300 miles is okay for a 4.2 me thinks too :D

300 miles to a tank!!!!!

The most I get is about 230 miles and was really pleased the other day with 260 miles.

The WR1 I had before was marginally better so I do not think it will be a major shock to the system.

300 miles is using the full tank and a full 65 litres, not driving to 10 or 0 on the DIS. I have however had 340 miles from a tank which is bordering on the range of my remapped S4 which did 365 miles.

The cab is much heavier than a saloon or avant so will be less fuel efficient. With my saloon I get an average of 22mpg combined. On longer motorway runs 25-26mpg.

Fair enough Chris but he's opting instead for a 911 Turbo. How much more fuel efficent? 1-2mpg (circa 10%)? Not exactly much when you own that grade of car is it?

I can top 30 with gentle driving (usually when low on fuel), drove from Bham to Bromyard, Herefordshire and got that figure so not just coasting downhill :)

Yep, highest i ever got was 29mpg but like driving Mrs Daisy! most of the time its 23mpg,
but these cars are 4.2s so i think that they are pretty good on the fuel.
Just get one and enjoy it. :D

Averaging 24 ish .....often see 27/28 on my 45 mile commute

By comparison that's way better than the V8 M3s return....circa 16/17mpg
