Just wondering what tyres people use?

Ive got PZERO's on mine and just wondered if people replace them with anything different.

I had PZeros as OE fitment and would NEVER buy them myself - they only lasted 9,000 miles and always felt edgy.

I've had 275/30 Goodyear F1s which have a great rimguard band, but take 500 miles or so to bed in and lasted about 11,000 miles.

My choice would be Michelin Pilot Sport 2s - I'm on my second set (done 11,000 miles) and my first set lasted 14,000 miles. Yes they're more expensive - but do the cost per mile calculation and they're cheaper.

I guess a lot depends on what type of driving you do on whether you require ultimate grip or economy. The concensus on here appears to be Michelin PS2's and Goodyear F1's. P Zero's and traditionally a soft tyre, Continentals don't last long and have poor grip half way through their life.

Personally I am using Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. I have just passed the 21,000 mile mark on them and they have between 3.5 and 4 mm of tread left in them although I will say that their ultimate grip is beginning to fade a little / they are squealing in pain.

Saying that though 'ultimate grip' is me throwing the car into a roundabout at 70mph on a dual carriageway and expecting it just to grip. The car still far outperforms most other cars on the road bar EVO's and Scooby's on normal bends for corner entry and carry through speed. Just that the Vredesteins used to have a higher level of grip.

Taken into context though they will last 25+K miles and not many tyres if at all any will match that on an RS4 and they were only £680 fitted for 4. That and they are excellent in the wet and the best summer tyre I have ever driven on in the snow because of the tread pattern.

Michelin pilots all the way for me,expensive but best allrounder and decent mileage,i test drove a b7 an virtually new p-zeros and had it sliding/drifting off a roundabout and its never happened with michelins at the same pace

Im looking for something that grips well but does'nt wear out after 10 mins of fun on the country roads,something thats going to give me economy and grip when i stamp on the loud pedal.I got through quite a few sets of Contactsport 3's on my R32's and thats with half the power and size.Buy what people are saying it looks like F1's are a popular choice along with Pilots but the Vredestein's sound like a good buy also, especially at that price.

Ironically enough I saw another Sprint Blue Avant park three bays away from me yesterday at Tesco and it also had Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's.

Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. On my second set, now. First set lasted a little under 20K. Lots of fast bends around here, though
Agree with what PG says above - especially the grip in the snow - they were amazing!

I use Continental SC3's... have lasted around me for ages and still have decent tread; great cornering and have used them at Oulton Park and Nurbergring but squeel like mad in the bends! also good in the wet

Goodyears feel splashy for the first 500-1000 miles. But by the sounds of your other post it is manufacturing issues rather than the bedding in.

Stevieb03, fair play to you for sticking with SC3's. That's what my RS4 came with and after 5k miles they were a liability. Poor cornering, dangerous in the wet and all round no grip and lasted 11k miles. Never again. Only realised how good the RS4 could be when I put Goodyears on after the SC3's.

i had a couple of sets of michelin pilots on the 911

at the moment the rs4 has potenzas which arent a bad tyre either but come replacement time i'll be trying on a set of pilots.

However im a believer that some tyres are better on some cars than others regarding wear, grip, feel etc....
