RS6???

Post by rs4v8 » Wed Jul 07, 2010 12:30 pm

Any of you RS4 guys had a spin of the new shape RS6? Thinking of replacing my 4. Harrogate and Camberley have two I'm interested in. Anything I should be thinking about /asking?

Yeah, the 4's not much better on fuel! Don't do many miles tho so it's ok.

Wish I had the money and if anything, they will become rarer / more expensive now that proiduction is finished. Looked at a Plus but not convinced by what they have done to 'upgrade it'.

That's Ok then. IMO the saloon is a better looker than the Avant, and more than adequate capacity.

Residuals will be iffy.

The previous RS6 values plummeted so be careful. If you want to go fast in a straight line its a beast. If you want driver involvement like you get from the RS4 then it's not the car for you.

cheapest one i can see is an 08 avant with 35k on it for 48 grand.

my opinion, not that it counts for much is these are bout to freefall to around the 40k mark.

some of them are over 2 years old now...

rs5 coming online, most rs adopters will switch, and there are already loads for sale that arent moving...

simple supply vs demand...dealers are already taking hits on stock they'd paid for and is now 60 days or over, and they will reduce it.

anyone looking to get out of one will see the trade bids coming in under book because of the above, trade guides will follow suit, and the dealers will then bid under the new guide prices...

this causes the inevitable slump over a 3-6 month period starting sometime soon.

i think the support level for them will be found at about 40k which will hold whilst 40k adopters get in, and then once those orders are fulfilled, they will freefall again to early 30's, all within 12 months....they are an awesome car, but big, heavy and very very thirsty... serious rs 'drivers' may by pass them altogether....

rs4 current support level for typical cars ( good spec, sensible miles/owners) is about 30k which will soon deteroarate to 25 where there will be strong support for a good while...what a car for middle 20's with an audi warranty...? plenty of people will want to get in at that value, so values will remain strong at that price point.

so like i said, supply and demand

here's the avant i was on about..which has been on stock at lincoln for about 4 months and started off at 53k...still not sold.

Seems you're right. Cannot believe how many dealers have responded in minutes to emails! Yeah, with ridiculous claims like. "cheapest in the country" when their car is not even in the the cheapest five on the Audi page :-) - "or my colleague is on the phone selling it now to someone else - do you want the car?"

Like the look of the one you sent and it is a good bit cheaper too. Had originally disregarded it due to mileage. looks good tho.

you'd be suprised ...the alcantara stands up very well.

look at 1993 rs2's with alcantara...you'll struggle to find a bad un interior wise.

I imagine what you have said holds true for the Avants because the market was flooded with them in the first place, however there are only a limited number of saloons brought into the Uk (less than 100 IIRC?) so they may well not follow trend.

There are only 5 on Autotrader which are the same ones on PHeads and the Audi configurator and have been there for a while and they don't have good specs on them. There was one on last week in a purple colour with Ceramics, keyless go, park advance and MMI High and its sold in days.

Not that I'm looking you understand.....
