airbox flap

what does it do ? how does it work? what if i remove it? anyone ?

At somewhere between 5 and 5.5k rpm it opens to allow more air into the engine giving you the shove in the back that most experience at that level of revs. It is vacuum actuated IIRC.

caldy has removed his air box flap, not sure if there is a discernable difference? I'm sure he could answer better.

mines missing inacceleration before 3400 let alone 5000,has anuone had problems with injectors? feels like holding back/no fuel

Any fault codes stored in the engine ECUs (addresses 1 and 11)?

I have takne mine out and there is more induction noise. I did it at same time as fitting a K&N panel filter and the car revs better at high revs. Engine note much improved.

When I had my GruppeM induction kit fitted, the so called "Boost" was apparent across the whole rev range (more or less from from what I can remember), however it was not so apparent at 5500rpm. @Porky can you confirm this is the same for you seeing as you now have the GruppeM fitted?

No light on doesn't mean no fault codes stored, have you looked with VAG-COM?

not lately .its always been to main dealer and they say every time no faults but it cant be right it drives like a peice of crap

Air filter flap seized and solenoid valve under o/s headlight swollen/split fault codes will not be stored ,check for vac pipe not squashed under bulk head
