Brake pads - experience wanted!

Hi All,
Any recommendations on brake pads for road and maybe a few laps of the local circuit. Mine have about 1000 miles left on them and was quoted gulp £366 by dealer fitted.
Also how easy are they to change. I have owned race motorbikes and changed these regularly (4 pot callipers) any difference with doing this on the car or things I should be careful of.
Help appreciated.

I've put OEM back in mine. To change is two big bolts and a little one which holds the pipes and wire in place. Shouldn't be much of a problem if you've done them before. You can push the pistons back in with your fingers

You must have strong fingers for the rear ones then, prefer to use a caliper winding tool myself.

I've got EBC Yellow Stuff going in on Tuesday - with new OEM disks on the front. My car won't be tracked though.

Question on OEM fronts. What VAG code is correct one - 8E0698151Q or 8E0698151H?

H supercedes to Q.
H has the pins, Q is the revised version.

agree
fronts, simple
rears, they take some oomph...and they need to be rotated as depressed
as far as pads, I'm a firm believer in the oem in general (the RS4's do have an inherent flaw, pad securing pins protrude further than the wear sensors!)
I've tried many different pads, and I always come back to oem, for street use

I am using EBC yellowstuffs at present and they are good. Probably better initial bite and appear more resistent to fade. And they have pad wear sensors and cheaper than OEM Pagids. Time will tell if they last as long.
