Looking to buy a Cabby - Help please!

Post by Ryan_W » Mon Mar 08, 2010 12:06 pm

Hi all,

New to this forum but not new to Audi's. I learnt to drive in my dads B5 RS4 and loved it! Current Audis in our household are the TT-S and a Q7 3.0l diesel, should also be taking delivery of our R8 Spyder soon too, in brown :?

Right, so why am I here?!......

My girlfriend has just sold her Rangey and has around 30-35k to spend on a car. She had specced up a JCW Mini to 30k and was set on that until I showed her a pic of an RS4 cabby on Pistonheads... Now I've got her thinking

Basically I need to know all the standard and optional extras you can get on these cars.

I don't like the look of the '06 cars due to the front lights resembling something of a fried egg and I don't fancy taking the lights apart.

I've done a fair bit of research and know that the car we're after has to have xenons, sat nav, SS, parking aids and Bose. Not fussed on ceramics since it's only going to be used on the road, got other toys for track

So what have I to look out for, any nasties? I've read about the DRC problems but surely these are all sorted by Audi FOC?

Thanks all for your time, and hopefully I'll be a regular member on here if all goes to plan.......

Cheers,

Ryan

could you get a cab on an 06 ?

must have options include Bucket seats, flat bottom steering wheel, sat nav

if you are after a full list of options you are better off getting a list of the brochure...it might be on this site ?

pretty sure parking sensors and bose were standard options?!

DRC is covered by Audi FOC for upto 5 years from registration if the car has FASH

Other than that, they are fairly bullet proof up to now...the odd niggle but nothing any other car wont have...watch for excessive wear on the bolsters of the bucket seats

you seem like you have fairly deep pockets so I wont mention the running costs!

I'm not sure you can get bucket seats on cabs because the front seats have to move / tilt forward for rear passenger access and I'm not sure buckets can tilt.

I've seen buckets in a cabby, definitely look the part. Are heated front and rears a standard option?

I stand corrected, never seen a cab with buckets, just the Recaros sports seats.

Yes, but then I'm not looking for one so only commented on those I had seen in the metal. Front heated were standard, rear were optional IIRC from brochure.

i would buy it from Audi mate, get 1 years Audi warranty on them, although now is coming into the wrong time of year to buy a cab as demand increases as the sun comes out....still, get in quick and you can get a bargain

if you get the buckets in the cabby, you will not be able to get anyone in the back... if that aint a problem then no worries

Surely not?! Do they not slide/tilt at all?

Hmm, may have to reconsider my options...

Guys, guys, guys!!! It's for my girlfriend not me

If it was up to me, she'd get a white Avant on black rims.

So I'm not sure on the bucket seats now, but I know that we definitely want the adaptive xenons and sports suspension!
