Are/will the Running cost be excessive compared to others
Are/will the Running cost be excessive compared to others
I have now been running my car for almost 4years and costs for a high performance car seem reasonable to me, compared to other marques. Info gathered from Evo magazine seem to bare this out. Perhaps people who have owned Astons & Porches etc could comment on this.

Fuel consumption aside I'd say my running costs for the RS4 have been about the same as a Boxster S I had.
The 911's (one 996, one 997S) were both a bit more for servicing and tyres, and a lot more for insurance.
I haven't sold the RS4, but I'd guess depreciation would also be significantly less than either 911 (both of which I lost £25-30K on and I didn't buy either brand new!).
I agree that the RS4 seems very reasonable - it's cost no more to run than the BMW 530D we had before (ignoring fuel!), and has been massively more reliable. And of course just a bit more fun to drive ...

having had both a 996 and 997 turbo (still got the 997) i fell that if i average out the costs of serviceing and tyres and fule on the 996 its about the same as the RS4, the fule consumption is alo9t higher on the RS4. Cant comment on the 997 as ive never had it in standard form so that is way more exspensive to run.
