My RS4 Nightmare

Guys,
Had my car about 2 months now and done less than 1,000 miles.
Got it with parking sensor problems but thought it would be a easy fix, also noticed when running for a long period, ie when out in the snow and i am defrosting it. it started to smell of coolant and wisps of steam coming from Passenger side.
So i booked it into a Audi specialist in Glasgow and asked them to give it a health check and fix the Parking sensors.
Well here is what he found neds replaced.
1. 2 x rear parking sensors
2. Passeger electric mirror motor
3. Radiator has leak
4. Oil cooler pipes leaking( now turns out i need a new oil cooler as well as he could not get the pipes off and had tried everything mentioned on here about cutting them, heating them etc and the thread jusr crumbled on him.
So i think, no problem i have a warranty with the car, wrong they wont cover any of it as its wear and tear and i cannot prove otherwise.
Gutted, its costing over 1700 for all the work and the garage are not returning calls or e mails, should i get in touch with trading standars or put it down to experiance???
I am losing confidence in the car and now worry what else could happen, pissed off is a understatement.
Mac

Feel sorry for you but that sounds more like the garage rather then the car itself. If a full healthcheck had been done on it then I would have thought those faults would have been diagnosed. Looks like they have just shoved it through the system without checking it over.
If you have only had the car 1 month or 30 days worst case is just reject it, take it back and demand your money back. This may prompt them into action.
Good luck.

How old is the car and whats the mileage.
TBH honest those are the things that can go wrong on any car, I believe the Oil cooler pipes can corrode at the ends that link it into the Oil Cooler.
Is it extended warranty? if so surly those items will be covered. esp the parking sensors and motors.

Take it back to where you bought it and tell them under s14 ss2 (i think) of the Sale of Goods Act the car is not of merchantable quality and you repudiate the contact and want your money back. Give them 14 days to return your money.
I wouldn't bother with the warranty, as they may be right about wear and tear. But here's the point. If it is wear and tear, it must have been pretty worn when you bought it to fail in such a short space of time and miles. So bad I would contend any reasonable inspection by the seller would have noticed the worn parts and brought them to any purchaser's attention.
Did they say look the rads old and is about to pop? The pipes are worn and about to leak?
If it were one problem I would take it on the chin, but 4 problems and a big bill? Furthermore, why are they trying to avoid you if they stand to earn some money on the repairs?
Dont be soft with these people. You have statutory rights (namely in this case s.14 of the sale of goods act - look it up!) as well as the reasonable expectation of post sale customer service. And correct me if I am wrong, is there not a statutory milage dependant warranty imposed on car sellers now?
Dont be soft and whingey or you will get nothing.

I have seen a lot of rs4 from them, if you brought the car with these fault and you reported then straight away to them they have to put the car right by law or they have to give you your money back i think they have 3 attempts in the first 3 months to put it right or money back, you should defo go to trading standards and tell them you are going there as well, the warranties they put on used cars ain't worth the paper that r written on i brought mine end of DEC off a mini garage and mine had some faults with the clutch and a oil leak but they sorted it and it cost them over 2k, they are trying to claim some of the money back of the warranty themselves, don't mean to be nosey, but did you take out finance with them on it cos you could go back to the finance company they have sold you a car that has faults so its not of merchantable quality.

Well should get the car back today fixed and with all the paperwork, as soon as i have it i will phone trading standards./Citizens advice etc. i have searched the warranty company on google and guess what??? loads of complaints about them.
To be fair the garage look as if they havent had it properly inspected and these things have been missed, i should have been more carefull and got the car inspected myself but you dont expect a high performance garage to be like that.
thanks for al the advice guys, much appreciated.

just shout and be demanding, i managed to get what i wanted in the end, took a while and had loads of help off here but i was semi prepared to be in it for the long hall !!!
As some one on here said, "he who shouts the loudest may look like a C**T but usually gets what he wants "

Unfortunately it's with an independent not Audi and I think Mac is quite far away from them. It may result in him having to drive down if they ignore his calls. Very poor service.

It is a sad state of affairs that this type of thing happens with any car. Shoddy business practice to let a car go out of a showroom when it clearly needs work doing on it. They rely on the the distance as some protection that you won't just turn up and play hell!
I had the same issue with an Audi garage myself (Derby) where the DRC was leaking. It was only by fluke (as I had to take it into Manchester to get a new MOT done because they'd cocked the MOT certificate too (read not even checked the mileage was reasonable)) that I found out too. So it's not just independents that can do this.

Give consumer direct a call and they will record all the details and tell you where you legally stand. It may not help much but when you speak to the dealer they will at least no you are not just going to drop it.
