Stolen

Post by Krode » Mon Feb 08, 2010 11:37 pm

House was broken into early hours of this morning

Keys for my RS and my wife's A3 taken plus my wallet

Left her A3 keys on the drive. Pushed my RS down the road before starting it

Police were onto the car within minutes of it being taken. After 1 Police chopper, 5 persuit cars and 1.5 hour chase later, car stingered all four tyres out, car crashed (no idea what state it is in but it is damaged)... 2 in the car caught

Myself and my family were in the house upstairs and heard nothing. They had dismantled a window to gain entry to the house and took the keys and my wallet. We are all ok..

Feel words can not describe how I feel now and have felt all day. Just so relieved we were not hurt...

Do I want another nice car, not sure after today...?????

Just logged in to say nice knowing you all and taking part in the forum just a warning that if they want it I don't think there is reall anything you can do to stop them

I thought those days had passed where we heard about the RS4 being stolen on a regular basis.
Glad you are all ok, seems the BIB did their bit too.
Is the car a write off now? Whereabouts in the UK are you?

Dont let the bad guys put you off having a nice car - thats what the insurance is for.

Likewise, sorry to hear this. However it does come down to a lump of metal and mechanicals and as much as we love them, it is nowhere near as important as your family's well being. Glad you are all OK; don't let them put you off owning an RS.

Echo all of the above, it's a sad day when you can't have want you want and work hard for with fear of it being damaged or stolen.

Out of curiosity did the car have a tracker and did you have a house alarm on?

Agree with all previous comments, bet you wish you could be alone with the b$$$$$$s for half an hour, hope you and yours can put it behind you and can enjoy your

home once more.

Did you have a tracker or similar device fitted as it seems to have been recovered quickly ?

Sorry to hear that. Glad you're OK though. I know just how you feel. I had almost exactly the same experience 2 years ago, although the little toe rags were never caught. At least you have that satisfaction (although they'll probably end up with community service).

We chat on this forum from time to time about insurance & the costs of buying it. Now your insurers have the oportunity to demonstrate their quality. Make sure you tell them just that. What we all buy, year on year, apart from an entry on the Motor Insurer's Database, is a promise to pay. Nothing more, nothing less. How they respond in your "hour of need" is what really counts. You should expect your car back in "as before" condition. Don't settle for anything less.

Good luck (and whatever you do, don't let them put you off owning something decent).

Same happened to me Dec 07 but I caught them in the house and had a rough and tumble with 3 of them. They did come for the car but I didn't realise at the time. Thankfully I was on my own.

......likewise I was kinda hoping the days of RS4's being taken where long gone
