Audi Factory Tour / Euro Road Trip Update

Post by P_G » Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:54 pm

OK, after some research done and thanks to caldy for his help on this, I have spoken with Audi. It looks like Monday May 24th is a public holiday in Germany so if the original schedule is to work and a Monday visit is what we want to do then that would leave Monday May 31st which is a UK public holiday for most of us.

We do however have potentially two factory tour options. The first is at Ingolstadt which takes in the A3, A4 and A6 production lines and we can opt for a production line comparuison tour between the A3 and TT plus a paintshop tour (clean room suits on!). The alternative is that we go to Neckarsulm and the tour there is of the A6 production, possibly A8 (d4) but most importantly Quattro GmBH where RS production is. Both have museums. Audi are going to confirm that the tours available to us over the course of the next 24 hours.

So for those of you wanting to still attend this could you indicate which factory you would want to visit;

Update, I have just had some additional details confirmed and we can have the choice at Neckarsulm (if you want to go there) of touring in addition to the Quattro GmBH workshop, the A6 production tour plus press shop, or the D4 A8 production tour or wait for it... the R8 V8/V10 production tour.

Cost per group of 15 is 150 Euros per tour so 10 Euros each. Being that we are a SIG for Quattro they would take us all round that workshop in one group.

There is also a hotel 100 metres from the factory where we can stay that Audi recommend.

No problem. If you look at the thread 'Anyone interested in a short drive?' then you'll get a flavour of the route.

Neckarsulm is looking favourite thus far but it's not too late for Ingolstadt...

4/ Jonny +1 - Neckarsulm

6/davidkoulakis - ?
7/sonny - ?
8/Gazzer 68 +2 -?
9/Pad125 - ?
10/Markymark +1 - ?
11/gogsyp - ?
12/ mac4RS- ?

Sorry to see W8PMC may not be able to make it, and I haven't heard from dubbers, rtd, mac4RS of gogsyp for a while. Guys if you are looking can you confirm whether you are still interested in joining us as it is getting near crunch time to get hotels etc sorted and it'll affect prices. Thanks.

OK, so sonny unfortunately can't join us either, anyone else not able to partake or indeed want to come along? Of those still interested I need to confirm to Audi by the end of the week prvision numbers on how many are likely to be on the trip to organise our factory tours

PG - just pm'ed you.

I'm having a discectemy done on my back next week (buggered it up carrying a spare wheel to the car the day I sold her to Billy!!) so can't commit to being able to drive for such long periods until closer to the time.

If I can do, I will as the trip is definitely on my things to do list!
