I think David has answered the questions - only thing being possibly carbon inlays and ceramics. Would also up Davids quotes by 1K for dealer and private if it had the extras that David mentioned.

Cognizant that we all want to talk ourselves into a good buy/sell depending on what side of the fence we are on, even the "book figures" Audi gave me are better than whats being quoted here...

Depending on whether its Jan 07 or Dec 07 makes a big difference....on a car which is nominally depreciating at >£600/month

However, according to the same Audi salesman I spoke to 2 days ago, book price for the RS4 increased £1K this month...

Parkers suggest anything between £28755-£32465 for an "average" (i.e., spec not specified) 07 car with average miles...just punch the numbers in yourself...

FWIW.

A private seller of a 07 car could easily buy you an extended warranty for less than the price that a dealer will add to the car to include this benefit...part of the deal...

I'm not sure whether the £5K+ optional ceramics are a bonus or a liability to be honest....

Still I bought a MRC'ed B5 S4 today so I'm happy....

Isn't Parkers a bit P**h - not really a true price guiding IMO. If Parkers is right then you should be able to buy a 30000 mile 06 plate (standard spec) from a franchised (Audi) dealer for less than 28K?? Doubt it. Check Audi online.

Don't get me wrong - I was happy with a valuation of 15K for a Golf GTI I was selling, but looking at what they were getting was more like 13K.

So Parkers is a bit up and down...esp with cars like RS4s, M3s etc etc.

Cheapest RS4 from Audi franchised at the moment is 30K with 45000 miles - 2006 saloon.

In attempting to sell my car I've genuinely tried to price it sensibly based on Glasses, Parkers, what others have recently sold for (as opposed to advertised for) and an educated guess at what I think prices are doing....

Everyone has a vested interest so treat all sources with a degree of suspicion especially when one is not sure how the data in these databases is compiled...

In my own mind, my "pricing" was/is vindicated when even the guy at Audi confirmed the figures.

I may even go the "Sale or Return" route with them as a result in order to get the car into the "Audi System".

FWIW, of the 23 RS4 Saloons on the Audi Used Car Locator, as of today, 22 are priced in excess of £30750 with the most expensive being a Mar 07 car with 31K miles at £36995.

The cheapest 07 car on Pistonheads is £28995 with 46K miles.

Its may 07.

Parkers says £32,465 Franchised. £31,845 Indy, but not taking into account any options.

re depreciation.

Here is a price I saved in Feb'08 which was typical.

Image

So £5000 per year depreciation, approx 10% depreciation per year.

A 2006 car in 2012 (6 Year old) with average miles would be worth £20k
in 2014 (8 Years Old) £10k?

A 10 year old RS is still fetching 12.5k - 15k, so I don't see my maths to be too far off. (if you can apply maths to depreciation)

That is withstanding global financial meltdown, a ban on anything under 50mpg, or World War 3 :D
