Ok need some opinions quick please. Will try to be succinct.
RS4 is in the Audi garage for a warranty fix on a very intermittent brake pad sensor fault which only came on post Audi replacing my front pads (4 months ago) I mentioned it at the time and Audi said they would have a look. I never got a chance and then it stopped so I forgot about it.

Anyway it returned late November and I took it straight in as I was about on the day and they said it needed a wiring loom replacement down to the front sensors, this was ordered and at this stage the car was about 3 days out of warranty but as it was a prior error manifesting itself again and only after Audi replaced the pads it was going to be on warranty claim.


So with all this snow and Christmas, today was the first time I could get it in. Just got a call from Audi garage telling me that whilst replacing one side of the “loomâ€

Part of the original warranty claim in my opinion. But this is often wrong when it comes to warranty...

Agreed - it's just crazy if they think that a seized bolt that has to be removed as part of a warranty claim is not covered!

The grey area is the warranty has now expired BUT this is the first time we could do it. There was a few weeks when I was waiting for them to contact me when the part was in and they claimed I had to call them first to book it in before they could order the part!!

Looks like if they ask you to pay you might have to have a blow at them and hope for a good will, takes the pi$$ though.

Update :- No charge from Audi but they managed to "repair" the broken bolt / stud whatever it was but did not want to tackle the other side of the "loom" they originally wanted to replace!! Not sure how this leaves me if it starts happening again further down the line, suspect I will get a big fat F off when it comes to warranty work even though this fault originated before the warranty expired and they were disinclined to fix sort today??

No explanation of what the fix was but suspect it is a new stud or they helicoiled it??

As its part of suspension would ask how the repaired it. Also if the break something while fixing something else - then thats at thir cost.
Example - they are fixing a puncture and drop your alloy on its face - they are resonsible to fix it.

Agreed, if they broke it, they fix it FOC. Otherwise they are effectively saying it is your fault the part seized? It's wear and tear and designed as such and given you didn't design it its not your fault.

As for not fixing it as said, I would query why as that was their intention. Either they underestimated the job which is their fault or they cannot properly fix it when they said they could, again their problem.
