So does anyone here ride bikes as well as run an RS4?
With all the rubbish weather I'm starting to miss riding the bike so was wondering if there are any bikers on here and what they ride

Used to be a through and through biker, had bikes from age 11 until 2002...then I woke up in hospital with someone calling my name and asking if I knew where I was - I had been in a coma for two weeks and was given a 20% chance of living (the back protector saved my life BTW). But I made it and haven't touched a bike since - I can't ride one anymore anyway due to balance problems as my brain was damaged and back/hip injuries.
HOWEVER! There isn't a day goes by where I don't miss my beloved Ducati 748, chipped, Termignonis, carbon everywhere, lightweight clutch, braided lines, washed & polished after every outing...god, the sound of it and that feeling of riding a bike, the freedom, the acceleration, the handling, knee down, the ability to just go wherever I wanted, regardless of traffic. Turns out that the car driver who's fault it was was trying to pull out of where he'd parked and was positioned at 90 degress to the carriageway with his front wheels over the white lines / catseyes on the wrong side of a bend and stationary, on an unrestricted road...like they say, you never know what's round the corner! I can't remember a thing about it, can't recall seeing a car, can't remember going for the brakes - nothing. That's the scary thing, that and the fact you cannot account for other people's stupidity, no matter how safe you are.
I still look at the bikes though and I still love them. I bought the RS4 to try and replace what I miss but it just can't. It's a lovely car mind and I love it to bits and pamper it as much as the Duke but it's not the same. I wouldn't mind getting a Duke 1198S or something and putting it in the froint room just to look at although the missus says that would be just a bit too sad.

Bikers
Know wot you mean - I wrote off a Honda SP1 but escaped with a broken scaphoid. Completely tore my cruciate ligament whilst off-roading on the moors near Alwinton and spent 2 hours trying to ride off the hills, falling off umpteen times. No golf or much else for a looooooooong time. Took my beloved Fireblade to Spain to use as a toy but scared myself shitless after a few rides so shipped it back - wheelspin in 4th in the dry on shiny roads and potholes waiting round every other bend. Getting far too old for that.........My (and millions of others)favourite road was Haydon Bridge to Penrith via Hartside. I used to think I was quickish until I was kippered by some really quick lads - no fear. However, in the RS I've done many a biker on the same road, but they must have been crap riders. Even an average 'superbike' should blow away any sort of performance car, but at least in the RS4 you'll make them work for it!

GSXR1000 K5 Yoshi, pc3, ohlins damper. 100% suspension set up.braided hoses, race rearsets,2 teeth up on rear sprox etc etc Ridden bikes since a wee boy, raced motox and enduros up until about 10 yrs ago,my 5 year old son is hooked on his ktm 50 so it looks like dad will have to start riding off road again ha
RS4 is close on kicks and gives great feedback but bikes are something else,150mph+ wheelies, short shifting to keep the front on the deck @ up to 150mph simply awesome, trackdays are the way forward and may be the way to go for me in the next season or so now i have a van for juniors motox

I thought there would be a fair mix of bikers on here as the RS4 is the kind of car that appeals to people used to bikes - I think it's the fact that you dont have to slow down too much for corners!
Karl, that is a right old horror story, but glad you made it through (bet you are too)

Yes, lucky to be here. I bet the GSX-R is a beast! They look so lightweight and paired back - gorgeous!MarkyMark01 wrote:I thought there would be a fair mix of bikers on here as the RS4 is the kind of car that appeals to people used to bikes - I think it's the fact that you dont have to slow down too much for corners!

Ditched my 12R a while ago...
Best I had out of it was 197mph through the lights at RAF Woodbridge.
I tried for 2 years to get the bloody thing to do 200 without going into the motor. Best 1/4 was 10.0 @ 145.
I was looking at getting a K5 this year.....or alternatively going for something totally different like a Nightrod.

Just sold my ZX10r (the scary first model) - was just to quick for roads and every ride had to be faster and faster.....fair to say it was only a matter of time.
Bought a KTM Superduke - still mental but outright speed has dropped everywhere apart from the corners.
Agree with others, a decent sportsbike will probably piss all over most performance cars, but the RS4 would prob keep up in the pissing rain.
Bikes are dangerous, but reckon retarded car drivers are more dangerous....how many times have I heard of a biker being wiped out by some sod not paying attention in a car.
