Can anyone explain these too me, where I can get them from (apart from Dealer)and how easy they are to fit?

Is it just one on each wheel that talks to the car or do I need a reciever fitted also?

How much are they?

AFAIK they're only available from an Audi dealer.

One per wheel (except the spare) PLUS a receiver on the car.

Virdee came up trumps for me on some second hand sensors. Give him a try - excellent service!

What happens if you fit wheels without sensors? Constant warnings or just nothing? Going to fit some winter wheels which don't currently have sensors.

You have to disable the TPMS warnings from being displayed on the DIS.

not overly relevant but my censors went a bit wonky recently in the cold weather. kept telling me i had flats, but didn't. then pressure down, but wasn't. ah well

The sensors have built-in batteries, and in the cold weather batteries don't work so well...

you are looking at around £50 a wheel IIRC

I had a new set of tyres fitted last Friday. Left the car at the fitters only to receive a phone call later to state that one of the valves had corroded, and as the sensors are attached to the back, they may not be easily separated.

I agreed for them to change to standard valve if they struggled. It turned out after replacing all 4 tyres that 2 of the valves had corroded and broke apart from the valves.. They reckon at some point there have been metal valve caps fitted, which have reacted to the valves (different grades of metal in contact etc...) and coupled with water contact the parts have corroded.
So I need 2 replacement sensors and to be honest I find it hard to justify replacing them. Even at £50 each!

I found a piccy online showing 4 sensors...


I don't actually need the rectangular "blocks", just the valve and sensor rods (excuse terminolgy).
I guess they come as a complete assembly though

exactly the same happened to me, caps corroded onto vaves.
you can buy the valves seperate to the sensors they are about £12 each if i remeber right.....

I have them in stock, the correct valve and transponder.

Valve and cap are available separate for £12, transponder £65.

Anyone know what the transponder part number is? These occasionally come up on fleaby but not sure if they are universal for Audi or model specific?

I carry a spare set as my local dealer doesn't hold them on stock.

Graeme,you can see part number when we meet up this week.

So...it won't be a problem when I take my car to the tyre fitters to put on my new alloys, will it?

Seems like it should be a case of removing the valve/sensor assembly and mating with new wheel/tyre combo?
