Retrofitting an OE sunroof is a HUGE job - new roof, new rooflining, fitting all the drain pipes, sourcing the roof and fitting (including electrics).

You would have to be REALLY desperate to have a sunroof to do it IMHO.

Would you not be cheaper (and easier) to sell your car and buy another with a sunroof?

Yea, I do really want one. Its not for if I get hot either. I use the windows or AC for that. I love the light, and the feeling of being outside when driving on a nice day (seeing as a convert isn't possible, this is a bit of a compromise).
How do I know whether it is or isn't worth it until someone tells me they have done it... and everything that is involved, along with projected costs????
Its just research at the mo.
Grizz at unit 20 has done it, so at least it can be done.
To be honest, no I don't think its easier to sell my car, manage not to lose money, then find another relatively close by that ticks all the boxes. I did it already when looking for this one, and it just didn't come up...

I have NEVER read a post where anyone has done it...and I've been visiting many Audi forums for over 5 years.

I know what you mean about the extra light inside. I have always ordered my Audis with a sunroof, but when I had an ex-demonstrator S4 that didn't have a sunroof and it was SOOO much darker inside. I solved that by selling the S4 in part exchange for my RS4!

I had a a3 sportback with the panoramic roof in '07, and that was damn near a convertible when open. It makes a big difference to the drive, and I do a lot of driving, so may be worth it...

Why not swap to an RS4 cabrio? At this time of year cabrio prices will be at their lowest.

hi mate, see my post in your other thread linked above.

i pretty much agree with everyone else here to be honest, much cheaper and easier to get a different car with sunroof and sell yours.

the sunroof in an a3 has the opensky system right? i think that sunroof is MUCH bigger than a normal s4 sunroof so will let more light in.

a sunroof does make a big difference in lightening up the car though, but not at the cost of retrofitting one though.

Understand where you are coming from - A sunroof was on my shortlist of 3 must have's for an RS4 for the reasons you have mentioned - it does seriously impact your available choice when looking for an RS4 but the expense/hassle/risk of retro would still make locating a replacement car your best bet I would think.
