Car vibrates when releasing clutch from 1st gear

When I move off from stationary position in 1st gear, as I release my clutch (normal driving) my car shudders and vibrates just as the clutch is at the biting point. Once I move off, the vibration goes away.

The vibration used to be only noticeable from the clutch pedal but now the vibration is much worse and even passengers in the car can feel it.

It's doesn't feel the the clutch is slipping. My car only has 37,000km and is on it's original clutch. car is used daily for commute, never abused or spanked.

The vibration doesn't occur every time but usually at lower RPMs when moving off. If I move off with slightly more gas and more clutch slippage, there is no vibration.

What is happening to my clutch??

Are you sure its not just to little revs for the drivetrain. Does it do it more when its cold or hot.

Sounds like the clutch is on it's way out; I had much the same before I changed mine.

Mine was doing this too before it died. I also noticed when engine brakeing in 1st/2nd (especially when cold) it would judder quite a bit too.

My clutch went at 22K miles and like yourself I never launched or spanked it but it did deteriorate quite badly when I was using the car for short commutes and stop/start traffic.

How long from these symptoms to a shot clutch?
