Thinking of buying this one....

Post by RS2GO » Tue Nov 17, 2009 3:58 pm

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1331843.htm

Was serviced in March 08 at 7k miles and again in May 09 at 9.9k miles.
Full Audi service history.
I think all looks good except the front shocks were replace on the last service... anything I need to look for when I go and test drive it to make sure the job was done properly?

Over time I think i will get rid of the phone cradle!

Cheers

Looks a fine car on paper but I would be as curious on a low milage car as a high one to be honest. Has long has it been sat in the garage or drive way?? Check pipes for rodent chewing!!! ( i kid you not) and tyres for signs of corrosion and obviously brakes. I recognise the car and think I test drove it years ago as a demo??? not sure but seems a nice healthy spec. The colour is a matter of choice as all are. Its fairly rare but not that quick so I hear ?? :)

Front shocks prob means DRC failure which is a standard issue with this car and the older 6. Dont worry to much as I think the warranty period has been extended to cover this issue ask the dealer for details. Plenty of individual advice on here to help you but the obvious checks on expensive things like tyres, brake discs, etc. Obvious service and prob a a couple of oil changes if its been sat around and a brake fluid change? Phone cradle could be removed by the dealer but they will want over 300 quid for the pleasure of replacing that consol. You could use it as negotiation but if not I know someone who did mine for 140 and it looks superb. doesnt effect the blue tooth. I would neg a ipod connection if you can. Again they will want a couple of hundred for the pleasure. I dont think you should worry to much as still under warranty and I think reading Audi seem to be an OK stealer.... if there is such a thing. Is that little sales cutie still there??? She took me out for a ride and I was sold on her techinque!!

Thanks for the response.
They have replaced all 4 tyres with p zeros (i guess they were the original factory fits???).
The last service was in May 2009 and they guy only did c.3k miles in 14months!! so will check for ex demo and pipes. They said 1 previous owner.
It has been through the 'extensive' audi check and as you say it comes with 1yr warranty so should be clean
Brake fluid and oil changes were done in the May 09 service.
Will try them out on the cradle but not bothered about the iPod connection as they say i wont be able to control it via the DIS?
And 2 4gb non SDHC cards should do the trick!
I am heading there this w/e to finalise the details...

I will ask for a copy of the report... just in case something they say they have checked goes wrong during the warranty period!

was kidding anyway :)
I wish I had bought a new one a few years ago as it tough to find one that fits the bill. I do like this dark blue colour... bit easier to maintain than black and less common than sprint blue. Thank you for your info though mate. I dont really care if it was demo... clearly had an eassier life since it left the forecourt the 1st time. I guess I will also need to check the side bolsters are not too worn given the number of ppl that must has got in and out of car... guess there is not much you can do to stop these getting squashed?
