So my car is fast approaching the 3 year mark, and Im obviously reviewing warranties.
My local dealer will do me an audi warranty for £1200 for 12 months.

Whilst collecting a car today at VW, I was offered an Inchcape extended warranty on the VW for 12 months for £349, or for 24 months for £499. They are quite happy to offer the warrant yon the Audi, subject to an examination of the car at a cost of £65.

The warranty, apparently, is identical to the VW/Audi warranty but doesnt come with the branded overheads of the others. Im waiting for the detailed warranty information to come through, but wondered if anybody else had reviewed the Inchcape warranty - seems too good to be true.

2 years at a quarter of the price....bite their hands off...i too got an extended inchape warranty on my S4 cab, but didnt keep it long...but by all accounts its the real deal

Very interesting - let us all know how you get on. Mines due up in May and the local VW dealer is only a few miles away - may enquire myself.

Mine is due in a couple of weeks so very interested about this. Does sound too good to be true though for the cover to be equal to audi's. I wonder how receptive they are to claims?

Ok, update as follows:

VW havent bothered to come back to me to provide the details of the Inchcape warranty, so i rang another Inchcape dealer today. (doesnt speak volumes for the stealer).
Inchcape warranty is not as comprehensive (which i guess was obvious from the pricing);
No replacement car
No roadside assitance (with the Audi warranty you get an audi tech)
Not all components covered, for example not all electrical systems
Different labour rates, and not all labour charges included.
Diagnostic charges are not free
Claims have to be approved once diagnosed - this can add delays, which isnt good when you dont have a replacement car either.

The person at Inchcape stated it was a good cover, but probably not ideal for a car like the RS4 which has potentially higher costs than more basic cars.

I then rang my local dealer and asked them about the Inchcape and the Audi warranties (they can offer the Inchcape but dont because its more hassle for them and customers than the audi warranty). They gave me the same information and stated that the audi warranty is pretty much the same as the original warranty, ie doesnt cover wear and tear but does include all labour etc.

I also discovered that you get 1 months grace after the 3rd anniversary of the car to take an extended warranty.

You can renew audi warranty even after 3 months - asked yesterday as I work abroad and concerned that it'll lapse when I'm working. Can do it three months early also.

you can buy Audi roadside assist without taking out the Audi warranty
i got a leaflet the other day, even though I renewed my warranty in Oct ?!

I would quickly question that, as I have been told and found that you CANNOT extend the warranty without inspection even 1 day over! Up to 3 months prior is correct.

True, I renewed Roadside at a cost of £135 for 2 years, way cheaper for the level of cover than anywhere else.

This roadside assistance sounds a lot better than AA at that price. What do they cover, i mean i take it no homestart, but the rest?

Audi Roadside is really, really....i mean really good

if you break down and your car is not repairable they'l give you another car, or pay for your onward travel for starters

My car has just reached 3yrs had free mot, free health check and paid for 12 months 15K warranty and oil & filter change £1390.85. I have to date nothing go wrong with my car but thought sods law it would do the day after the warranty expired so coughed up the hard earned cash for peace of mind.

* word to wise..

Make sure you purchase the coverage from a reputable company... going through the dealer is usually more expensive but you know you are getting something that is backed closely by Audi.
