Brake discs

Been told by a friend with a Lambo that it's a good idea to drill the holes in the brake discs, to clear all muck out. Otherwise discs can crack with overheating. Is this true?

Guys on here have done that yes, not sure about them cracking, but warping yes.

Just dig out the holes with a sharp screwdriver, remember the holes go all the way through on the fronts. You don't have to take the wheels off either (which is a bonus). Not sure is it helps with the warping problem but it doesn't hurt.

Let me get this straight. Aren't the discs already drilled out on the RS4? Sorry, I'm more enthusiastic about the car than techie! But anything I get do to extend the life of the discs I'm certainly interested in!

Phil, yes they are already drilled.

But over time/use, the holes get blocked up with brake dust.

Hence why people are advising to clean these up.

Cheers. OK, I'm going out with my screwdriver! Although mine only have about 500 miles on them so I'm hoping they're ok!

Every couple of thousand mile should be enough - mine's haven't been done in 3000 but are just starting to clog up again.
