Had a mailer from Audi recently saying there was a new DVD available for the satnav...anyone bought it?

I'm guesing it's just a map update rather than software features?

Thought I saw something on here about maybe doing a 'bulk buy' to get a better price...can't find the post now though???

I got the latest SU DVD map (suffix AJ) from a contact in Belgium a couple of months ago.

The SW version on the <2009 RNS-E is the same (0650) but it also has the SW for the 2010> RNS-E (version 0070) and has maps that are about 6 months newer, including more coverage of some Eastern European countries.

Since the DVD is only available from Audi, I'm not sure whether a bulk buy is possible without finding a friendly dealer...

I bet it still doesn't have full UK postcodes!!!!

Will the RNS-E ever have full postcodes or does the actual hardware not support it?

The hardware could easily support postcodes...as from memory it does for France, Belgium, and Netherlands whilst I've there.

It's just that Audi in it's wisdom either doesn't want to update their front end software to handle the UK postcode data or they don't want to pay the extra royalties due....probably a bit of both on an end of life system!

It doesn't but then neither do the 2G & 3G MMI systems - it seems Audi either don't understand the need or don't care...

Since the 2010 DVD will probably appear in November/December in Europe and February/March in the UK personally I reckon it would be better to wait and get a full 1 year map update.

Twice last week in Normandy even with the 2009_1 DVD I was off-roading according to the sat nav!

Remember that even the 2010 DVD will have road information that will have been frozen in May or June 2009. Plus Navteq (who provide the mapping information) appear to completely ignore feedback regarding errors - at least that's my experience since none of the many errors I have reported to them have yet made it onto an Audi DVD, and some of them I reported 4 years ago!

I've just heard that the 2010 DVD is available in Europe, so it will probably be available in thr UK in February (that's Audi's usual timetable).

The part number is 8P0 919 884 AN.

Dunno that yet, but I bet Audi UK will charge the same as they did for the 2009 DVD - £149 IIRC?

The reason for no 7 Digit Post codes I was told by my local Audi Sales Manager is to do with the extra cost of the royalties that needs to be paid for this service.

Seems crazy when BMW now offer it and my 07 plate Range Rover Sport had it!!!
