Hi
Looking to install a switch to allow the front airbag to be switched on / off (thus allowing a booster seat to be used for my boy).
Has anyone done this before?
If the airbag is diasabled will it raise a fault code?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks
Barrie

I think you can disable the front passenger airbag using your key. IIRC the switch is in the glovebox?

In the A4 there is a switch, but not in the RS4

That's interesting because my 2006 '06 RS4 has a key operated switch in the top right hand corner of the glove box to disable the passenger airbag. I thought they all had it?

My previous car was an A4 Quattro sport. That didn’t come with a switch to turn off the front airbag so I had one fitted at Wimbledon Audi. As the other guys say it was operated with the ignition key. From memory it was about £150 to have it put in but that was about 5 years ago.
I did notice that my RS4 does not have one which I did think was a little odd for a top of the range car. Luckily I don’t need it now my kids are a bit older.

I would have lost money betting whether my car had the switch or not!
I can picture the silver key operated switch in the top right of the glovebox, only it isn't there on my car though, just a blank.
Car is an 07 Avant with Buckets.
Is the switch seat specific I wonder?

May well be, mine are option Recaro sports seats.

If I rememer correctly it is seat specific.
I think it is not recommended to have a rear facing child seat in the buckets, therefore no reason to have the disabling system.
I think you had to spec Isofix and Recaro's
ETA....
Just checked the original brochure and on pag 15 it states:
ISOFIX child-seat preparation, for front passenger’s seat and outer rear seats, including passenger airbag deactivation switch.
Only in combination with Recaro Sports Seats (No cost option)

I've got a passenger airbag disable switch in my glovebox.
I think it's only there if you have Isofix.

Mine has but I have the Recaro sports seats (not buckets) and the front seat has Isofix. Bucket seats don't have Isofix so they didn't bother. Was a no cost option with the Recaro seats.
opps, just read the posts inbetween and noticed its already been mentioned.....
