Quattro vs Tyres - Depth and Mixed Brands

I currently have Bridgestones (little tread but legal) on the front axle and Conti3 on the rear (a little more tread but not much) on the rear axle.

Could someone advise on how important it is to have matching brand/tread pattern and also matching tread depth across both axles for the Quattro system please?

same tyres on same axle is preferred, tyres should be within 1-2 mm depth wise. Having one brand on the front and another on the rear isn't such a big deal.

You could swap front to back and get a little more life out of them.

My car wears the fronts approx 15% faster than the rears, so a rotation is required to even the wear. This does mean that when it comes to new tyres, I do buy 4 at once

don't skimp on tyres they are the only thing keeping you:

a) out of that hedge
b) not hitting that 5 year old
c) not rear ending the Porsche in front you have been goading!!!!

Totally agree spend all you can afford on tyres, as a road policing constable I 've been to many fatal/serious injury RTC 's where tyres treads have been an issue. You may think your saving money but your not. Are traffic cars get new tyres at 3mm, performance cars need good tread

Very pleased to say my dealership are replacing the fronts as they decided they weren't happy to sell it with that level of tread depth.

With regards to swapping around tyres it is always recommended that the tyres with the most tread go on the rears.

Why? For most drivers understeer is easier to correct than oversteer.
