The speedo reads well off at those speeds, a true 150mph will shows as around 165mph on mine.

My speedo is not quite as bad as Rob's.

Its 5 mph out and that seems to be independent of speed.

The top speed is limited in 6th by rpm I believe - 7000rpm - so at an indicated 170mph in my car (which is pretty much equivalent to 7000rpm), you're doing about 165mph.

You can find YouTube footage of a derestricted and remapped car doing a GPS verified 187mph with the tacho at ~8000rpm.

The owner of that footage now drives a 500+hp C63 and continues to stop by on the site every now and again to poke fun at our under-powered vehicles!

I have owned my car from new, so can confirm it is 100% standard.

My car stopped on a limiter at a GPS speed of 265kph (Pogo camera gadget set to KPH in Germany)

At the time, the speedo was showing around 175mph.

The car accellerated pretty quickly to 260kph, then in a slow controlled manner to 265 where it stopped accellerating. As traffic dictated etc, and each time I got the chance, the car behaved in the same manner, accellerating to 260 then slowly to 265kph which it would maintain for mile after mile where we could.

I have to say, we didn't half cover some miles quickly!! Also used fuel at a frightening rate as well

I have once had the tacho up to 175 mph with some left in reserve on my standard RS4 a couple of weeks after I picked it up whilst on the Cannonball 8000 before ze Germans impounded my car. Since I usually find that it is out between 5-7 mph so I suspect that was doing about 160-165mph but only guestimating.

Funny bit was watching the fuel guage constantly moving toward empty whilst up at that speed, comical  Scrubbing the speed off quickly and safely is also a bit of a skill.

Mine is de-limited & to date i've seen 172MPH through the timing beam (at VMAX), the speedo was showing well over 180MPH & that was just below the redline in 5th gear, still had a couple of hundred rpm in 5th & all of 6th to go at.

The previous video indicates that the 5-6th shift is at about 265kph/165mph which equates to 50revs/mph for an 8250rpm redline.

So that means that if your speedo was indicating 180mph in 5th, W8PMC's red line is 9000rpm!

Its not that high is it???

The Audi channel recently had a feature on the RS4, 3 road testers drove an avant across to Germany and had a speedo reading of 170 mph on a high speed bowl, I was surprised on how easily mine went passed the 155 mark

Hi guys, I never poke fun at your under-powered RS4's - I just like racing them ;-) On a serious note, in my RS4 I had 190mph on the speedo and 187mph GPS so they are very accurate. Not had C63 flat out yet but did touch 192mph on the speedo in Germany in April, back out there in the new year so will see what it does then (not much more but think with a long stretch 200MPH will be acheived). Hehehe Darryl.

Surely with 500+, 200 should be possible...

Thats quite a big jump over our boneshakers!

I'm out to the continent in Dec so will look out for an opportunity to stretch its legs...

No, my redline as the car is mapped is at around 8400. Also my speedo is a touch more out of sync as am running on 275 tyres. Speedo was over 180MPH, however the true speed was 172MPH.
