Nav question and traffic rerouting

Post by robinbarker » Mon Sep 21, 2009 5:03 pm

Can someone please answer a quick Nav question

I have a new Garmin which uses the Traffic Master (green cameras) feed and reroutes my journey according to the delays on my route according to the traffic feed. So far it has been excellent and apparently work better than the TomTom which uses a different feed from Classic FM

In my dad's RS4 with Tech Pack it appears to have traffic info - so my question is will it re-route you around delays and how good is the feed?

Cheers

Robin

The Audi system also uses route master / traffic master and does re route, how effective it is is only as good as the data it receives but it has gotten my out of a number of potential jams even though sometimes I question where it is taking me in true alpha male style!

The RNS-E uses TMC data from TrafficMaster, the earlier BNS and RNS-D use TMC data from ITIS.

Yes it does re-route you around know delays or road closures but in my experience the data is usually an hour or more out of date. My personal record for out of date data was in France last year when it attempted to re-route me around a road with road works - which had finished a year earlier!
