What would you buy next?

Post by lma07 » Thu Sep 10, 2009 9:02 pm

Hi

was cut out of my rs4 on Friday and car is written off / I lost my left leg (below knee) by all accounts the car saved my life.

I hit water, aqua planed and struck a lamppost on the a90 just outside Aberdeen

I'm gutted the car is no more but had a brill 2.5 years with it

so what is out there that is just as practical?

Left the RS4 mould (wicked car) and now in a C63 with bits done and over 500BHP and nearing 500lbft torque - not as usable every day but boy is it quick, F430 was ringing it's neck the other day on the M25 and I was stuck to it's bumper!!!!

Blimey lma07, glad to see you are Ok. Will it mean you need an auto or are you having prosthetics?

If auto howabout a C6 RS6? I do like the C63 and CLS 55/63 AMG's also but the C63 the only car the same size. Otherwise sticking to an auto theme IS-F or M3 with M-DCT.

If a manual dare I suggest another RS4?

Sorry to hear about your accident.

You're braver than me as if i'd had such an accident, a replacement car would be the last thing on my mind & when the time to consider did come around, i feel something slow, safe & very sensible would be top of my list.

Although not wanting the gory detail, are you able to expand on the details relative to the car (how it saved your life etc.) I had a big moment on the M6 Toll last year when i hit standing water (torrential rain) & the car became about 50-60 degrees out of shape, but luck & i firmly believe the ESP & Quattro with only minimal input form me, brought the car back to pointing in the correct direction.

I wouldn't consider a replacement that wasn't quattro - in conditions like that the M5/CLS would be spiralling like John Sergeant on Strictly Come Dancing!

What about an RS6? You should be able to do a good deal on one, and having paddle shift will be an enjoyable drive while you are learning how to do things minus left leg.

Huge respect to you for being on here and looking forward, so many, probably me included, would be staring at a wall and feeling nothing but depression. Good man, get yourself a fantastic motor!
