MRC tuning worth it ?

I have a standard B7 (2006) with a resonated valved Milltek system. I am thinking about a MRC stage 2 remap, and Milltek 100 cell cats with a performance air filter. Is the performance gain noticeable / worth it ?

I will let you know tomorrow, im booked in on SRR, will let you know the out come. But what I can say, is that it was a huge improvement over the Generic remap I had.

Can't talk specifically about your proposed set-up but there is a noticeable difference in mine since I had my work done in March. Performance wasn't the only reason I had the work done, concerns around inlet build up played a big part but overall the entire package is great.

While on the subject of inlet build up I’ve now done 2k since MRC modified the breathing system so will be going back for what should hopefully be a final check in a week or two. Fingers crossed we should find a squeaky clean inlet clean enough to eat your dinner off…

There was a B7 RS4 up there today having its build up scraped off. Absolutely shocking what was coming out of it...

reading these comments i am very tempted to upgrade the car... might have to look into having the inlet cleaned / modified too. Maca33 please keep us posted once you've been back to MRC of how this mod performs !

There is a "Search" facility on this BB.....

A quick entry of "MRC" into it will yield hundreds of threads with applicable information in them...

Check this thread though for starters:

Rob, what difference have you noticed? And do you believe this is accentuated by you have a freer breathing set up with your decatted pipes remap and larger exhaust system inducing more airflow?

There are 3 main differences:

1. The car is much quicker off the mark (I guess partly because if the throttle restriction being removed)
2. The engine is noticeably less restricted at the top end of the rev range
3. The sound is awesome (and doesn't suffer from drone anymore)

The exhaust system is no bigger than the OE set-up (2.5" I think?!) - dyno results have proved at least some of the benefit is down to cleaning, porting & polishing the inlet but the down pipes probably made the biggest single difference.

I guess none of this is particularly surprising though; the key to extracting any sort of performance from a n/a engine is to improve the flow of air in and out – all of the above have helped do this.

Please keep us informed about the final (hopefully) result on your modified breathing system and the efect on the inlet deposits. Thanks
