Brake disc scoring and pad wear

Hi
I recently took my RS in for some warranty work on the suspension and I was told that my pads are 70% worn and my discs are scored. They stated that the pads would be OK until the next service (4-5k miles away). When I mentioned about the problems with pins on the pads scoring the discs they stated that the scoring was caused by a stone or similar.
Having read the post regarding pins causing disc scoring prior to the warning light coming on, have Audi got a case to answer because I am sure that the scoring on the disc is consistent on both which would indicate to me possible damage caused by these wear indicator pins.
I have no brake squealing or judder indicating worn discs. The car is a Jan 07 24k.
Views or advice please before I contact Audit Customer Services
PS The dealership have stated that I don't require new discs
My understanding is that the latest OEM pads have been upgraded to resolve this problem - is this now the case? The part number ending in Q.
Also any advice on remaining with OEM pads with a view to any future warranty claims.
Thanks for your help.
