A1 service from Audi

Post by Gazzer68 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 7:43 pm

Just got my car back from Audi.

As many of you know, my car has not been performing as it should, and the RR day confirmed a poor 343bhp.

Well, i took the car into my local dealer for them to check it out, the inlet manifold was removed to check manifold flaps etc and on examination, the valves were so coked up, you couldn't see them !
(No surprise there then)

The car has now had a brand new engine fitted under warranty, so i'm chuffed to bit's.

:D

Got them to fit a new clutch plate while the engine was out as well.

All in all i'm a happy boy, well done Audi.
With service like that, they can rely on me for repeat business.

Carbon build up mainly i think, they did mention something about marks on the cylinder walls?
Something that seems to run hand in hand with the coking.

Mine is being replaced as I speak, should have it back Thurs. They found mine had low compression on one cylinder (only marginally down).

So how does the new engine feel/sound?

So would you have known you had low BHP without the RR? Guess you gotta think you're not the only one with this issue..

Funny you should say that. As soon as mine is run in (new engine and new clutch) im having a RR, then immediately after the RR, decats, MRC ITG panel filter and revo stg 2 remap, and another RR.

Wow - result Gaz!

Got to say I'm surprised audi fitted a new engine due to carbon build up given their stance up until now, though it goes to prove that IT IS a big issue!

What mileage/ year was the car and what dealership? What explanation did the give for the build up and have they given any promise of it not happening again?

Well done Gazzer

So for all the RR cynics, that a problem identified (and fixed) for all cars running down on power that day - possible exception being Mac, but hopefully he's being sorted too...

Bit tight when driving home, but been out again tonight and its starting to free up nicely.
Feels a hell of a lot quicker as well, but this could be down to the 2.0 tdi i've had for the last 2 weeks.
Only done 68miles so far, and the run in is about 1500miles

I think the problem is, that the power loss is gradual, so you get used to it.
Over time the air flow is affected?
So the only way to tell is to compare against other rs4's, whether on the road or RR.
