still on the hunt...

Post by Kingkong » Tue May 26, 2009 8:47 pm

Hello all, I'm still searching for an RS4 but not having much luck tracking down a low milage one, there seems to be a great variation in price out there, I was thinking of going to see the below

http://pistonheads.com/sales/961629.htm

spec looks ok but seems high on price, am i wasting my time going to visit?

then there is this one and it's 10k different, but i'm not sure why

http://pistonheads.com/sales/1038178.htm

any thoughts?

KK

Bramleys is overpriced IMO although it is a 2008 car. Think at the end of production run, you could have almost bought a new RS4 for that price, albiet a basically stock car.
The other one seems about right for a 2007 car.

And the first one doesn't have the buckets seats or flat bottomed steering wheel.

i'm split on the seats but i've realised in the second hand market you might be waiting a while for the right spec...

There are more cars out there with the bucket seats then without, I suppose it just depends on what you prefer. I was sort of pushed towards the buckets as I actually found more rear leg room with them than the recaros. The steering wheel also is a mater of choice - I like the flat bottomed, my wife hates it.

Come resale I think you'll get a premium with the buckets and flat wheel.

forgot to mention - if your willing to travel the right spec car will be out there. I had to go 300 mile to get mine but had all the spec apart from ceramics and SS+. Still finding bits and bobs on the car after 4 weeks....

you could be right, but how much longer do you look for the right spec, low miles prob means more to me than seats or wheel...

You found more rear leg room with the buckets? That's interesting as they are the thicker of the two seats, it was the demo ones I saw and the 2 inches rear leg room with bucket seat adjusted to my driving position which led me to Recaro Sports seats. That and leg positioning (I have tree trunk legs so not comfy in buckets)

The recaros are basically the same as fitted to the S4, the buckets, maybe because they are not fully electric, seemed to have more space behind the driver. I did try cars with both fitted and both my wife and kids said that when the bucket seat was adjusted for me (6 ft 4"), there was def more room than with the recaros.

Low miles is good I agree...but low low miles can bring its problems as well.

King Kong...keep looking, you'll find a car that is suited to you and your needs.

Happy hunting

A member is looking to sell his car which has a new engine fitted at the dealer.... I would go for a car like that, a true bargain and you can run the engine in as it should be!

I don't think your average American would fit the buckets.... No disrespect to you intended

Kingkong, I went to look at this car 3 months ago at a resdential address http://pistonheads.com/sales/961629.htm, I walked away, I didnt even start it, at that time it was aparently being sold privatley advertised on both pistonhads and autotrader, I complained to both as the picture the private advertiser was using is the very same one on pistonheads currently and the shot was the same as other Bramleys adverts at the time. why did I walk away ? It apparently had been bought, changed hands a few times, the guys story did not add up, it had a tax disc holder from Romans, number plates from another dealer on the A24, and plate holders from an Audi dealer, and something else from Bramleys. The battery had been off for a long time (none of the clocks had been set). It seems to me like a sepculative buy by someone at the end of the production run, but with the general collapse in residual values, they are asking over the odds. I want to be very clear on this point - I am not making any accusations it was just not the car for me, and I was not happy with how it had been advertised which I discovered when i returned home.
