Post by sckrs4 » Wed May 20, 2009 12:24 pm

Hi Guys,
What do you recommend the top of oil for the b7_RS4? What is the exact SAE code and model for 1 litre can?
Regards

I've always topped up with Castrol Edge 5w30 50400/50700.

Or the Mobil 1 Equivalent. My dealer seems to switch between the two.

Whatever is in it now. You shouldn't mix oils, especially given this engines sensitivity to it.

Sorry , I should have mentioned that. I only use the Castrol because that's what the dealer put in at the last service.

Unfortunately not! However, the Audi sales guy said that their service team is the best in the country and they do specialise in RS and R8 servicing.
So will need to get back to them asking what juice (make and model) they filled the 8Liter tank with.
I think on this model oil does get burned a lot hence the tail pipe discolouration inside etc.

Cheers

I think you'll find it is 9.6 litres actually needed to fill the RS4 up to the correct mark.

In the states the manual spec 5W40 VW502...pretty sure the dealers use castrol Syntec

almost 10 qts....that really surpised me during my first change

mine uses <1/4 liter between 5-6k mile changes...

In US you have 502.00 5W40 and in Europe is Castrol 5W30 504.00/507.00 and it needs 10 l filter included.
