ticking but no moving - vacuum issue or dead actuator. Given each bank has it's own actuator suggests that it may be a vacuum issue.
There's enough vacuum for the exhaust flaps at the end of the test. Perhaps that isn't a great measure of anything though as I recall someone saying (might've been you) that the exhaust flaps had a reservoir of their own.

yeah they can store a fair whack but it is on the same system so should be able to support it (depending on if there is a one way vale in there somewhere).

you can test this manually if you have a hand vacuum pump with gauge (most brake bleeding kits are perfect).
disconnect the vacuum line feed to the manifold flap solenoid (its under the front carbon cover) and put about 500mbar vacuum in (7psi). then re-run the VCDS test on the manifold flaps.

I'll see if I can acquire a pump. Which one would be the the line feed to the manifold flap solenoid? I'm guessing 2 or 3:

Answer #5

Pipe number 3 is both the feed to the manifold and the lower down it is the feed for the tumble flaps.

Forgot it was sorry tricky to access

I am struggling to find this, does someone have a better more "zoomed out" picture? Preferable with fingers pointing...

Not Sure if this thread is still alive?!

I have been having the EPC and EML light come on recently and have a VCDS, i have run the tests as the top of this threat instructs and I'm pretty sure the actuators and vac system are working as intended.

Code: Select all

Mode 03: Emission related fault codes

Address 7E8: 1 Fault Found:
P2015 - Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor (Bank 1): Implausible Signal

Address 7EA: 1 Fault Found:
P2020 - Intake Manifold Flap Position Sensor (Bank 2): Implausible Signal
I'm trying to get to the bottom of if its a sensor and if so which one. ( the test only stats group 142 which shows as bank 1 but I couldn't find a group for bank 2)

So far as i can tell from the below

I'm pretty sure the red line should follow green line, else its more than 10% out so will throw the fault?

This is a sanity check that I am reading all this correctly before I start buying stuff and taking things apart.

Is there any way to check which sensor has gone? looking at the codes it looks like both are not happy? or is this linked for a different reason?
Am i missing anything?

Many thanks in advance if anyone is still out there!
