Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
all those youtube vids are on the same W*NK website, which obviously loves the BMW's... the point is this, no one on here gives 2 sh*ts if the M3, Z4M is faster blah blah on a sunny dry day.... what about the other 50 weeks a year, when we laugh at them and leave em wheel spinning at lights and tail happy on roundabouts!
Re: Is the RS4 slow for 420hp?
...because stock rs4 power is 360/380 hp and 4wd doesn't help on a 50 to 250kmh run.Castrolsp3 wrote:

RS4 still faster
996 GT3 weighed almost 1000 lbs less
RS4 still faster straightline
Z4M, much lighter
yet slower
new M3, 300+ lbs lighter, same power
surprised the RS4 is so close
some tests it's faster (Roat & Track)
9112S
800 lbs lighter
yet straightline RS4 is dead even
and as fast around the 'Ring
nice try though...then considered again, pathetic attempt

RE: Re: Is the RS4 slow for 420hp?
These do make me laugh.
My best BTG Ring time in my B7 RS4 is 8:29, so the same as a racing driver in the E30 M5.
On a different tack, i had a race tonight with a 1.8 Astra & TBH i didn't smoke him. The reasons being, firstly i had no idea he wanted to race so he got the jump off the lights & the 2nd reason it was a Hertz car so he had no care in ringing the cars neck (something i try to avoid when it's my money paying for everything). Needless to say within 3-4 seconds he was checking my phat arse out, however for those 3-4 seconds he got the win. Me thinks they're about 100BHP.

As a long time RS4 sceptic and now convert looking for a daytona grey with black optics
4 points spring to mind for the car ....
1. Frank Stippler ring time
2. Independent tests recording 0-60 in 4.3 secs
3. Critics seldom seem to have driven an RS4
4. Bends and less than perfect conditions
I did enjoy the youtube video from the M3 board where the M3 V8 edged ahead in a drag race and then the RS4 disappeared off into the distance when it got twisty with the m3 passenger screaming out loud to remind the driver there was a bend coming up

I find it 'amusing' that he considers the RS4, a 4 door saloon car, in the same league as a 996GT3, a stripped down, hotrod, hipo track version of a sportscar...
pretty exclusive company indeed

Don't know about the rest of you, but after spending the last 2 weeks nosing around for good deals on cars as possible replacements for my RS4, I've passed over a Gallardo, a F355 Spider, a GT3, an 911 Targa (997), an M5, and a Z4, simply because they were not practical enough when it came to carting around my golf set, family and friends, despite some on the list having sharper handling, a much nicer soundtrack (F355), though I would have to say that I was sadly disappointed with the M5's SMG (not to mention that an SMG pump replacement costs at least twice as much as an RS4 clutch)
I'd have to admit the the RS4 doesn't shine in one department, but is one fine all-rounder, and make no excuse for it
