Hi,
looking at purchasing an RS4, price looks reasonable and it ticks all the boxes except not having the flat bottom wheel (which I'd like). Is it possible to retrofit one and if so is the price expensive or just really expensive........
cheers.

Not hard at all! You can get the Euro-spec RS4 wheel, C6 RS6 wheel, TT/R8, and the TT-S wheel...... It's pretty simple to install.... Don't know how much any of it would cost though, since im in north america

Caution,
It is not cheap and I heard it is not as easy to fit as various buttons are different.
If you search this forum, I think it has been discussed and cost.

Same wheel minus buttons, and Lambo airbag
Carbon can be done easily, and the Alcantara, although Audi also does an Alcantara item aswell.
Lambo wheel was around £1500, last time I enquired!

I think your looking at about £750 to £950 to have the wheel supplied and fitted properly!! which aint worth it!!

I did the C6 RS6 wheel on my RS4 and it only cost $800 USD...... So I'm sure it can't be too hard to do over there!

That's probably because the airbag unit is reused?
Unfortunately for the RS4, the round steering wheel uses the squarish airbag unit while the flat bottomed steering uses the round airbag unit. A swap from either would require the purchase of the steering wheel AND a new airbag unit. That is the cost killer.

I purchased a new round airbag, too! I had the "square" airbag with the round wheel before.

So if you had a multi function wheel before do all the buttons on the rs6 wheel work? I pressume the only one to relocate is the sport button yes?

I guess the european models do not come with the sport button above the radio..... All functions of the steering wheel work as if my RS4 was an RS6 (though I do wish it were an RS6!)

I recently fitted the RS4 Sport Wheel from PPI Design
www.ppidesign.com (They make all the factory carbon stuff for the R8). It uses the base wheel and then is completely recovered.
I have the silver parts resprayed to match the titanium wheels.
Awesome Wheel.
