Part Worn Goodyear 275-30-R19 Tyre

Post by crispy » Wed Oct 29, 2008 3:41 pm

After 3 punctures in as many weeks the inevitable has happened, and the last one is un-repairable -

(Looked like I was going to be repairable until they took the tyre off the rim and found that the screw had badly chaffed the inside of the sidewall  )

Anyway, in accordance with the reccomendations in the handbook I have replaced both front tyres.

As the non punctured tyre from that axle has around 5mm of tread left, I decided to keep it as an emergency spare.

Does anybody know where I can get a cheap 19" RS4 Alloy from that I can mount the tyre on?
Alternatively if you are in the same unfortunate position regardign punctures, I have a part worn tyre that you might want.

Flea-bay or the for sale/wanted section on here (this is where I got mine)

Just be careful on flea-bay that the wheel is genuine as opposed to a copy and isn’t bent out of shape. That said unless you physically go to pick it up this is going to be difficult hence why I bought one off a known user on here.

out curiosity pm me a price for the tyre as my spare is still wrapped in a Pirelli

I am keen to let go of my 4 Goodyear Eagle F1s - 275/30/19, after having them for less than 1500 miles.
Some how I cant seem to get rid of the slight vibration at the steering doing high speeds.
I paid £650 for the four 2 months ago, and will be happy to take £400 if anyone interested. Decided to go back to the P zeros!

If you really want to try .. I have a spare Wheel and Tyre .. might be worth swapping and testing ..If the tyres are perfect .. you must have another fault .. I assume you have had them balanced and a quality garage ?

It could well by the wheels - I am not sure. I have had them balanced twice now - so have given up on the whole idea of wider wheels.
My email address is: shaan.hussain@eu.nabgroup.com

Thanks

Andy thanks for the offer. but i get vibration only between 65 - 80....

Any gear/load .. ie accelerating only or coasting ? Could be a problem with the suspension .. jack the thing up and check for any movement

Should be easy to fix ..

That's certainly not normal behaviour with the Goodyears. I don't get any vibration at any speed - even three figure ones when I was in Germany earlier this year.

I would take it to a dealer ... say you have had the Tyres balanced a couple of times and still have a problem .. Camberley seem to be flavour of the month and helpful .. give them a call and arrange an appointment. You need to help yourself to fix this.

I had my tyres balanced and the tracking done when I had them fitted at Micheldever (just past junction 8 of the M3) - always been 100% everytime I've been there over the last more than 20 years.
