HI, as you can see from previous thread, my car was knicked a few nights ago.
With car crime on the up, if I get the car back i want to protect it as best I can, so wondered if we could start a thread to share ideas on views, reviews, ideas on products to stop the little S^%ts.
A couple of questions to kick off, does anyone know of devices you can fit that kills the engine if not driven by the owner.
also, any views on tracker devices

I reckon i-Mob has to be one of the best devices. Had this on my E60 M5.
Basically it's driven by a SIM card so you're alerted by phone if the car is broken into, driven, driven above a certain speed (great for when at the dealers), tilted, the list goes on.
You can speak to the scum in the car & notify them you're about to ruin their day as the Police have been alerted, are now being tracked & in 20 seconds the car will be disabled.
Check out their website, it really is very cool kit.

Some of this I don't think should be discussed in an open forum, for all the obvious reasons ... better at a meet.
But having said that, most of the cars seemed to have gone from home or on a test drive .. so in that situation personal safety must come into play and just give them the keys ...

Agree with Andy.
But/and where is the device which pumps mustard gas in to the cabin on demand.

Yes, and on pissing them off, they would probably smash the windows, scratch up and dent the bodywork, torch the car, cut up the leather seats, etc instead of just abandoning it after a joy ride.

Clifford have their black jax system, which could be fitted along with one off their alarms, a small touch pad is installed and every time the car is started a pin code must be entered, this can be programmed by the installer to a simple code so onlly a couple of presses are needed.
If no code the car will start and when the brake pedal is pressed cut the fueld pump bringing the car to a stop flashing and sounding!!!
it will only do the under 30mph so as to be safe
May be an option, you can put it in valet mode if you just want to pop into the shops etc
Hope this helps

Like i'd want my car back after some low life had been driving it. Not bothered really what happens to the car, just that the scum get caught.
The clever part as you should have worked out is that it naturally acts like a standard Tracker device as well, so the Police could take full control of both tracking & disabling the car, thus creating a far safer end to any pursuit & a 100% better chance of catching the bad guys. TYhe police could basically decide where/wehn to stop the car.
Also great for the very reason that OP went on about Bexley Audi, as it can be set with one call to alert you by phone if/when your car exceeds a set speed.

Then what you really need is something like what banks use -- an exploding pack of pigment/dye. Activate it using a secure PIN to a SIM in the car, and POOF, occupants are painted BRIGHT BLUE. After that, just let the authorities know to look out for the boys in blue

That would work. Still like the South African flame thrower out of the sills idea.

Trouble with all these devices is that if your car is nicked from your house and the scum realise that you fingered them trough one of these products - goes without saying that you automatically become a sitting duck when they finish their stretch. What we really need is a device that we have no control over, one that activates automatically and one where the owner cannot interfere or be coersed into turning off, this then needs to be well marketed so the scum are aware of it's remote nature.
We have CCTV and all info is recorded onto a remote server somewhere that we can't delete or interfere with, therefore whats on it stays on it.
