Hi Folks , Would like to clear up the SVM Recall/software update 0090 issue .
This recall software flash update is related to some cars in a fixed chassis range. This updates software from 0070 to 0080 to improve drive dynamics.This may be backflashed or updated by Audi at a later date.
Software 0090 is available but was designed for cars that have cold running issues , flooding etc due to stop start driving or not allowing cars to warm up as per your owners handbook.This 0090 software update is not recommended as there is no backflash available, unless instructed by Audi Technical through your local dealer.

My car was in for DRC work about 6 weeks ago, and I was surprised to see that the 0090 upgrade hadn't been done (despite, maybe wrongly, asking for it). Rob thought it had been completed, but are you only doing it where necessary or something?

Now that is what i call a refreshing change

Audi have just phoned me up and told me I need 24H8. Ive only had the car 3 days, wouldve been nice had they done that when they had it! They said I missed the recall by a day - which I though meant it had just come out - but from the age of these posts I guess they were referring to the manufacture date. Mine is Apr 07. Should I expect 0080 when I get it back?

Yes, and that should be fine so long as you don't do short journeys from cold.

When you say short, I assume you mean journeys not long enough for the engine to get up to normal temperature?

No, I only commute 4 miles to work but the engine gets up to normal water and oil temperatures. However, for the first 1/4 mile my RS4 (running 0080) feels like it's over-choked (uneven running, etc.), so until I get round to having 0090 put on at my next service I have found the way to avoid the rough running is to use much larger throttle openings on initial acceleration and then backing off (just like driving a car with a carburettor and a manual choke).

Ah interesting. Thanks for that. I have faily mixed used, one or two short trips and one long motorway run per week probably.

I thought the issue was a software one which would, therefore, be applicable to any car running 0080?

I don't see the correlation with chassis number, unless this is a way of ascertaining which cars are running 0080?

What happens if you have a car running 0080, experience the problems, but have a chassis number not in the range specified range?

Is that possible?

I thought it was that they wanted them all on 0080, and they should know that all cars are running an older version from the chassis number, ie. older than 'x' need to be recalled. Or maybe the fault was only introduced in a newer firmware, then subsequently fixed in 0080. So its all chassis between 'x' and 'y' ? Who can tell!

Im annoyed because before I bought it I asked if there were any software updates that could be applied, they said 'no' - then 2 days after collection said, 'it needs recall 24H8'.

There is no correlation with chassis number, my car came out of the factory with SW 0050 but has been updated to SW 0080.

The only 100% certain way to know what any car has is with VAS or VAG-COM.
